patently
Just wondering if anyone has a good-condition decent MacBook they want to sell? On the lookout for one again
CarMad
Not me sorry, depending on what you are looking for the refurb section often has some decent specs for the money.
garcon magnifique
You should buy a new one with full AppleCare +. It'll definitely work out cheaper in the long run. #TSNmaths

E-bmw
Yes, Mr P, don't buy a second hand one that you can afford, buy a new one that will be..........newer.......more expensive.......better for you.
NewNiceMrMe
I don't have any for sale. Or for sail.

Mac
Do you mean Macbook or do you mean the Macbook Pros? Skylake is due any day, I'll have a couple going once they're out.

CarMad
I'd expect they will be around June with WWDC, Mac will probably know more than me.
Mac
Could be WWDC, suspect it will be sooner though. They're unusually behind the processor curve. Actually patently these will be 15" units - you after those or the 13s? They're the i7/256Gb Retina ones I think.
CarMad
Talk they are going to add some of the new gen graphics acceleration into them and they aren't out until May so suspect they will wait and give the start of WWDC a kick into the media. patently
15" would be better this time. Will check on disc usage on the one being replaced to see if 256 is ok I have a kind of deadline for it in first week of May, though
Mac
Awkward time to buy really, given pre-refresh. Have a base model late 2015 MBP 15" Retina that would be ideal. Let me see if I can swap it with something else?
NewNiceMrMe
This is why I ignore updates. There will always be a new Mac, usually well within 12 months if not 6 months. If you wait for the new model because you can, great. If you need one now and the new model is 4-5 months away, buy now.
CarMad
Yeah, I've just got a new iMac yes an update will be out later in the year, it will be a little faster / better etc. But the one I got will more than suit my needs and the kids, I mean they needed to have a 27" top of the range iMac didn't they; at 3 and 5 years old, oh hold on...

patently
Looks like she needs 500Gb minimum. If that means buying new then I'll apply TSN logic and buy a new model instead of s/h… Thanks for checking though
Andrew
Or if it is a good deal, put a 500Gb drive in it once you get it? I say that, but my MBP (from Mac) is 5 years old now and I'd like to upgrade the storage to SSD but man maths of course says buy new, shiney and 15"! JonC
...my MBP (from Mac) is 5 years old now As is mine. It's slow on start up recently. Is that because of Sophos (newly installed) running in the background? It's a late 2011, 2.4GHz processor Intel Core i5 with 4GB memory. How can I speed this ageing bit of kit up? Sorry, wrong thread for such a question, but it seemed appropriate, kind of
patently
Right, quick discussion with her over specs, then decisively ordered a new 13" Retina with upgraded hard disc and memory to replace her ancient MBP Now to try and discuss replacement cars with her
Calm Chris
Spend 16 hours of your life doing... Or rational? Spend 2/4/6/8 hours of your (days earnings) money getting someone who can, and have a day off. On a 3 year (in head) business plan I'll buy a tool for £500. If I save 20 hours, it justifies itself. Same with home stuff. My old phones and iPads worked. Being current cost me £1k and functionality is the same as the old, well a bit better and quite a lot faster However, I use these products 5 hours a week phone, 20 hours a week mobile. It's only money and why compromise your time, which is the most valuable asset any of us have.
