Mac
Put an SSD in it. Ref upgrading the SSD in the later retina units - their aren't any at the minute I don't think? PCIe based - used to be 1Tb ones available but they were about 600 quid.

Calm Chris
Right, quick discussion with her over specs, then decisively ordered a new 13" Retina with upgraded hard disc and memory to replace her ancient MBP Now to try and discuss replacement cars with her How dare you interrupt my reply to Jon C. (Tell Mac you will take him out for a drive, on track. I'm sure he could double the ssd, and leave some Jimmy S files somewhere)
Mac
SSD + clone = a couple of hours, tops. SSD 250 quid. Bargain.

Mac
In fact SSD would be even cheaper - 2011 units will be SATAIII. 500Gb will be about 100 quid, and would be a massive shot in the arm for machine like that.
Mac
This is why I ignore updates. There will always be a new Mac, usually well within 12 months if not 6 months. If you wait for the new model because you can, great. If you need one now and the new model is 4-5 months away, buy now. For the most part I agree - except now and again the upgrade will be fairly substantial. Broadwell to Skylake will be a fair jump, and I would expect the form factor will also be taking a refresh. Main reason I refresh at launch is simply due to the resale value of the kit...Costs me not a lot to always have spanky new bast performance and in warranty kit.

Scotty
I'm after an iPod touch. Don't need the headphone socket working and not worried about case condition. Anyone?
E-bmw
You should buy a brand new top of the range with working headphone socket & perfect case with red paint & 20" wheels with a collapsible? spare instead, you will like it much more.
