Getting old...

Finally, after what seems like an interminable wait the slightly re-specc'ed BMW 330e I ordered at the beginning of the year was delivered

But I must be getting old... It was delivered Monday morning, and still haven't really had a chance to drive it :(. Only a few years ago having a new car delivered would have meant driving it as soon aspossible...but  an hour after it arrived I was in a taxi to the airport...  Back Wednesday night... Work related dinner, so another taxi.  Board meeting first thing Thursday so straight to work. But today is Friday...

Initital  thoughts, based on less than 50 miles driving too an from work are that it has a lovely engine sound, it seems pretty quick, and that its excessively 'shouty' about its pseudo 'M lite' status...which I don't like...dash, wings, boot, brake callipers, steering wheel, cills...  It goes on...

I did mention in AzureS3s thread, I did change the original spec slightly...  It's an M235i convertible, manual, with very few options.  Professional Nav and heated seats is the extent of it!

The engine sound better from the inside with the roof up bizarrely - computer enhanced via the stereo maybe?

indeed - BMW Active Sound Design, it's the only way to get a standard turbo engine (in a car built for refinement) to sound remotely interesting without removing the all sound deadening and modding the exhaust.

"Slight re-specced 330e". :roflmao:

That looks lovely.  A very nice colour combination indeed.

I recall you talking about the 330e way back in April, sat in a hotel bar in Chichester!  Perhaps this is why it took so long to arrive?  It was going through a reshaping process? :roflmao:

Well the problem was, the lead time was so long on the 330e that between ordering it and its latest delivery date I bought an e-tron, and the need for 2 PHEVs in one household is limited :P. So I changed it to the 235i. Took about 10 weeks for that to be delivered :)

And I've  always been a fan of light interiors; the 535d had a beige interior, the 520d had oyster and if the A4 had been available with a light interior I would have ordered one.  But S Line meant black leather :(

I wonder if I can make it sound like a proper 8 cylinder engine...:roflmao:

Yes, yes you can -

They also do a V12 model.

And on the colour front, I'd be lying if I said that my memory of the E36 M3 in Estoril blue with an oh so nineties pale grey interior hadn't influenced my choice   Another sign of getting old perhaps :roflmao:
