Re-spec'd M3

MrsMe insists on her car having a sunroof (or not having a roof at all).  I never use them but she likes the additional light they give into the cabin more than anything.  I could count the number of times she'd actually retract a sunroof on one hand, but she has never had a car where she pulls the sunroof cover over.  It is all about the light to her.

Ah so this is what you have gone for. Excellent choice!! +++

I've still not gone out for a play in anything yet, I've considered X3, X4 and the new 3GT all for space with the kids to be honest. Going away with them this weekend you can never have enough places to put things.

The 3GT is like hens teeth though compared to the 3 Saloon / Touring there are loads by comparison so prices are fairly buoyant as a rest. Some of the extra touches the 5s have I might miss but don't want to wait for a new 5 or 5GT and pay the extra tax on them either.

Nice purchase G.  Give us an end-of-term-report on the 330d Coupe, the longest you've kept a daily driver for a good few years?  It clearly left an impression to be your daily for so long and be replaced by a new shape!   +++

The E92 is an interesting platform for 'length of service' isn't it? A lot of people complained about it being 'insert random complaint here' and yet most that I've known that have them have kept them for an age compared to previous units.

The E92 M3 is the longest I've *ever* had a car. By a fair margin - I.e. Double.

I often think we (meaning most drivers on car forums) tend to swap cars because we get bored quickly or something new comes out that tempts the wallet.

However, one thing I've learned is that when you get a car that you really like, you will indeed keep it.

I had the 645Ci for 6 years and 50,000 miles.  That decimates my ownership record on anything else - with the 520d being the second longest I've kept a car, now at 3 years and 3 months but having done 62,000 miles in it.  The 5 series won't get close to the 645 record, or I doubt it, purely because of the miles I now do, but if my miles were to drop I'd have no reason to replace it for a long time.  I think I've finally found the right way of choosing a car - taking much longer than I ever used to in making my decision.

My BRDC friend has just taken delivery of an X-drive M Sport+ 335d and is super impressed with it.  He says he has found it genuinely difficult to get it to break traction and he's been trying!

I took it for a very quick spin last week and was surprised how well it rode on those wheels and also investigated the launch control which I can report is very good indeed!

My head hurts. I hadn't truly appreciated how much in car technology has progressed in the last five years. I'm slightly miffed it hasn't cooked my tea.

In other news, it makes a surprisingly nice sound when you floor it and 50mpg when you don't.

Minor quandary - do I spend time turning the house upside down looking for a goddamn mother****ing MoT certificate or just pay the tenner to get a copy. :secret:
