So tomorrow we're off to look at this 3 series - http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/3-Series/2.0TD-320d-M-Sport-Touring/Sheffield/3648906-605853723-3497190.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

looks pretty well species and has the bits and bobs on that we wanted (xenons, heated seats, the widescreen nav, privacy glass etc)

having had my Audi for 12 years I'm not into BMW options - the stuff for the navigation seems baffling. It says RTTI is in there which is the clever traffic routing thing - but what about the ability to stream from my iPhone? Is that standard in these?

is there something blindingly obvious that we've overlooked on this car that isn't in there?

Cheers!!

iPhone integration / streaming has been around for a long time, 2011/12.

Bluetooth or USB but both will work especially on the Professional Nav that has, although it doesn't list properly in the spec for some reason. Looks like a nice motor and the spec is good. +++

Thanks!

So if it has the professional Nav should it have all the apps and what not that you can get on the system?

what do I need to look at on it when we go and see it?

presumably we can also go old school and just plug in an iPod and then control it via the display?

final Q - is there much movement with dealers and used cars? For instance they are doing the £1500 deposit contribution at the moment but we're buying outright - what would be a reasonable expectation for discount / and or extras, like a free service or something?

having not bought a car since 2004 I've not much experience!

I've used Ala, not had to use it fortunately but they seemed to be pretty competitive but haven't looked recently.

As for the apps etc. it will have some apps but I think there are options that can be added to add extra functionality, not sure exactly how to tell other than going into the menu and seeing what is there. +++

Thanks for the help so far.

So, we've actually come across a 325d in the perfect spec. It's estoril blue with coral leather. We love the red leather in black and grey cars and being in Leeds and hte car in ipswich it's hard to see in person at the moment...

What's the consensus on that combo?

As E-Bmw says. You are perfectly entitled to do exactly that. You can settle any finance within 14 days for no charge.

This.  Wouldn't be so keen to do this at my 'home' dealer, but if you are traveling to view a specific second hand / new stock car, financing to get the best deal is an absolute no brainer

Estoril blue.  +++

I like Estoril blue with coral leather, but note that my local dealer calls that 'superman spec' :roflmao:

I didn't order it on the two series because I thought it would be too loud with the roof down; mineral grey with coral leather was the logical choice, but the blue brake callipers would have clashed

I love the coral red leather but for me it'd be too much with Estoril Blue.

P.S. I've found that a good coating of brake dust is a fuss free solution to the clashing blue callipers.

We thought that, but in the 3, with privacy glass too, it's looks pretty epic. Mrs Chas loves it so it's a win win. 220bhp family car with room for the dog and the bikes. Happy days.

Should i be bothered about the tow bar??

And how much haggle room is there with a BMW dealer and approved used cars? The car is up at 23.5k was thinking to go in at 22k plus Service inclusive and the warranty 12 months to start after the end of the manufacturers warranty next June.

The days of worrying over the previous use of a car with a towbar are over. I bet they used it for a bike rack like you intend to!

Service inclusive can't be added to a used car. Not even a demonstrator. It has to be done from new. Are you sure this one didn't have it added?

That's what I thought, but BMWs website says that it can be added anytime in the first 60 days, presumably at the same cost as when new.  And any time before the first service at a higher cost:

https://www.bmw-service.co.uk/service_packs

So depending on the age of the car it looks like it might be possible? Having said that, when I put my registration number in (less than 60 days old) it finds the car but doesn't give any pricing. Just says contact my dealer...so perhaps the website isn't correct?

When my wife got her BMW 2AT she was offered service inclusive on the car and it was a few months old demonstrator. She doesn't do crazy mileage so decided she wasn't going to do it, but they even called back to say are you sure so it was certainly on offer and even being pushed.

You can add it up until just before your first service.

I made enquiries with my previous 1er but decided not to in the end as I was planning on selling it not long after. It was a bit more expensive than buying it when new though.
