Andy_Bangle
The department has ordered 52 of them. Along with another five hybrids of undisclosed make and model, they're earmarked to replace the 60 Vauxhall Astras the service currently uses. The Bimmers are expected to remain in service for the next five years and come complete with range-extender gasoline generators 'LOL' special yellow and red livery, blue strobe lights, and sirens. cruiser647
Will be a good test of the batteries, life span, mis-use of and what happens if forgetton to be plugged in. (use of generators will help!!)
JonC
That's about 1 car per 2 stations across London. They may not need the range extending gas generators, but hey, why not.
NewNiceMrMe
That was my first thought too. I'd be surprised if they need the range extenders. They'll spend most of their time sat waiting for morons to hear the sirens and see the flashing lights...
ashleywater
Anyone recommend a good write up on these? Booster any ideas on what finance is out there on one? Considering getting one shortly, so would like to get some real everyday feedback not the Journo bilge or even worse manufacturers performance figures, which have less credibility than Keith Vaz, claiming that he has never engaged in "Singing the Detective"
PeterS
At the risk of getting brainwashed by an Eco warrior, you could always take a look here... :https://speakev.com/forums/bmw-i3/
NewNiceMrMe
Ashley, go to a dealer (with an "i" franchise, as not all have them) and sit inside one. You will be amazed how much room there is. They're the closest thing to a TARDIS that I've ever sat in.
