Laptop Encryption software - Bit Locker?

I've only got Windows 10 Home edition and I've now got a requirement to ensure my laptop is encrypted.

A quick look around suggests the 'Home' edition doesn't include BitLocker and I have to upgrade to either Pro or Enterprise to get Bit Locker as part of the package. Anybody any alternative suggestions (or a copy of Pro kicking around  ) or any views/reviews on Bit Locker?

We use BitLocker on Win 7 64 Enterprise and it seems OK.  Very few issues with it

Those issues are usually user induced.

 

1) It wants the Recovery Key on start up.  Usually because the laptop has changed state and went to sleep/hibernate mode.  Restart sorted

2) It wants the Recovery Key on start up.  Again, the user is booting with a bootable USB slot offering.  USB out, restart - sorted.

Only rarely do we have to use the 36 or 48 keys code!  (which is fun!)

I used Trucrypt for a few years with Windows 7.

I had read about a few issues with Windows 10. But I have loaded it and it seems to work fine.

BUT....I.T is not my strong point. So it may be better waiting for a post from someone who knows what they are talking about.

I actually updated to Win 10 Pro only yesterday, have enabled Bitlocker and all seems fine so far.

£99 for the upgrade direct from microsoft store. I couldnt get enough feedback on the other options available and I had to get it done for work.
