I've read stones in brakes is common and there is a fix I think now? And the faulty diffs were a specific batch across M2/3/4.

Yes, can be turned off using the iDrive. Can't recall where as I found the setting while fiddling and am not in the M2 today as snow is forecast.

edit: try here: 1. "Settings" 2. "Instrument cluster" and maybe 3. "Additional indicators"

The fix for stones in the brakes is new backing plates, with a bigger hole to allow stones to drop out (p/n below is your car is affected).
