JaffaCake
Thinking of getting a few settings changed on this VAG-COM thing people keep mentioning. What is it exactly and what tool do you need to change the settings? How much do they cost? If they're expensive, I'll take it to someone else to get done e.g. my dealer. What kind of price should I pay. It there a complete list of settings I can look through specific to R32? I want the alarm beep and the auto-lock. The rear wiper thing sounds good too. I'd like to know what other options there are. Anyone help?
dubzter
Vag com is a diagnostic programme that can be run on a Laptop. You access your ecu by the port under the A/C Radio slots. it is similar to what VW use to diagnose faults on the car. JaffaCake
Anybody got any more info? UK Supplier maybe? Anybody got one themselves?
Gti_Fly
www.rosstech.com is one of the original resellers. different pc cables are offered, from serial port to usb port. usb port + full software (and full technical backup) doesnt come cheap - its about £220. Serial port package is ALOT cheaper, about £100 odd. If u've got a laptop, just pray it's got serial ports! oh and a usb-->serial convertor doesn't work well with vagcom.. It's been tried before! struyk
the rear wiper thing was a natty little feature where your rear wiper will wipe automatically if you select reverse when it's raining (or your wipers are on). It was just to help you see whilst going backwards. i think that's right. if not, i'm sure i'll hear about it soon enough.....!! Carl
satbir
Apart from the "beep", auto-lock and rear wiper feature, I would like to know if any of you lot know any other features that the car has that haven't been switched on! My car is going in on Monday to have the first two done - not so bothered about the wiper thing... but I'd like to know so that I can tell them to sort it! BTW my undertray should be arriving today, have got to wait for the stealer to confirm, as soon as it is, I am down there to get it fitted. (And before any of you tell me to wait until Monday.... a different stealer is doing the VAG-COM stuff!)
struyk
quick question guys... looking at vag-com.co.uk and seeing the differences... which connector have the R32's? I can see there's a 16pin DLC and a 4pin 2x2. I can also see some issue with aftermarket stereos being fitted and that dealers are not wanting to plug their testers in?!? Am i likely to hear this when i take it for the alarm beeps adding..?!? Carl

Carl [/ QUOTE ] how do you mean 'under' the a/c controls, is it literally behind the switches and a/c has to be removed first or is it below the a/c switches behind a little black plastic cover or something? cheers
geo_nr1
fifty, pull the brushed steel plate off which is directly below the A/C unit. It does literally pull off.
