audia8s2
Hi guys, quick question for you, I was scanning through the Bentley repair CD yesterday and came across comments about the "accelerator kick down switch". Bascically my kickdown doesn't seem to be as precise as it used to be. Unfortunatley my CD won't read anymore so I never got to the bit about where it is??? is it a physical switch on the throttle body/accelerator setup or is it actually controlled by the ECU? Thanks Ben.
PaulW
On the pre face lift cars it's on the throttle linkage I believe and on the post face lift cars it's where the gas pedal hits the floor.
audia8s2
Thanks Paul, your right, it's on the throttle body. I had a play with the kick down unit yesterday, made some adjustments and also took the slack out of the accelerator cable. Everthing seems to be back to normal now. SneakyMcC
Very, very selfish of you, your local dealer could have charged you thousands for another g/box! Just think of their balance sheets next time would you... Well done Talking of g/boxes, I noticed that mine has been nodding off to sleep and then waking with quite a harsh change accompanied by a bit of a bang when all that has been req'd was a gentle down shift

Gentle squeeze on the throttle and !!!bang!!! then you start moving.
SneakyMcC
Mines @ very low speed when easing the throttle on. Think that cause I'm easing in the power whilst the slushy change of the box changes, it may be that I'm adding gas whilst the box is shifting. Where as I'd nomally just add a big dollop of gas and let the box catch up. Does that make sense? )
audia8s2
I think I may have mentioned this before but it sounds like bit of slack in the propshaft.

Now Paul, if you only had taken my advice and bought, let's say 10,000,000.- of them, you'd have made enough for a brand spanking new A8 overnight. Fascinating thought tho eh?
