chrhodes
Well the 182 arrived yesterday and all is well. but last night i noticed something very wierd. On closing the drivers door i noticed that there was no key lock. Thinking to myself "what i good idea delocking a car" went home. But this morning i noticed that there IS a key lock on the pasenger door. Is this a normal Clio thing? TO have no lock on the drivers side but a lock on the passengers side????? must be a French thing... Chris

Hants_Cruiser_UK
[ QUOTE ] well i had a look at another clio and that was the same. cheap skates [/ QUOTE ] Well you have remote entry, so a key is not strictly needed, unless the battery goes flat. My Megane has the 'Renault Hands Free Card' and doesn't even need the remote to open it, but there is a cap integrated into the 'Passenger' side door handle that can be removed and the 'Emergency' key can be inserted. I guess they feel that chaging the lock over to the other door would be a pretty pointless exercise.
shao_khan
So how you enjoying it? Other than the lock that is
chrhodes
I tell you that i am very impressed and it puts lots of so called well equipped cars to shame. done 350 miles os far and the only problems is a loose passenger seat. And before anybody say that is to be expected the S3 had this also. Cant wait till i hit the 1000 mark and really have a play. Well worth the money. chris
Viraje
I'm curious. What exactly are you doing in the passenger seats of your cars?
audia8s2
Hi Gentlemen, just dropping in from the Audi A8 forum and noticed this post. I have a 182 on order (unfortunately the 4.2Q sport has been given it's marching orders, partly pressure from the good lady !!), currently delivery date is 3rd week in September. Just thought I'd ask how you think it compares to your S3 handling and acceleration wise (I know you haven't reached the 1,000 mile mark yet). I'm obviously a bit dubious going from the big boat that handles and accelerates so well, back to a little boy racer machine. Any thoughts please ?? shao_khan
Well I had a 172 and have had a couple of other cars as well recently, and must say the 172 came following test drives of Mini, Seat, CTR, and I loved the car - it went because the cup didnt have aircon and last summer it was just too much. You will notice a huge difference from the current vehcle, but I find you always do when you move sizes of car, i remember getting out of my old 100 Avant and getting in the TT it all just felt strange. Very good choice of car though IMO, they arent german build materials, but I must say mine rattled less than most of my german cars so not sure if thats such a bad thing. chrhodes
Erm, It is different. I also looked at the Honda Civic Type R and found it very skittish. As for the clio V S3. It is totally different. Dare i say it more fun. The reason is that the clio is more of a "hold on we might get there" where the S3 was a "are you sitting comftably, then we will begin" kind of car. As for the performance it is resably quick up to 5K RPM then in true 16V fashion it gets a 2nd wind and really goes. You notice the missing 4WD but by it not feeling as surefooted as the S3 it is ALOT more fun. I have to say it but for the money you would be hard pressed to find anything to beat it. chris
audia8s2
Thanks, as you say it will be somewhat different to my current car, although I'm kind of looking forward to going back to a quick little car. Just thought I'd gauge opinions. Crazy how you just spend 20 mins on a test drive and sign 12 grand away!!! I've gone for the suspension pack and the cup spoilers and decided on black Gold, I loved the french blue but the good lady didn't. Black will look great but will need cleaning every 10 minutes !! Still should be good fun. Several years ago I had a Golf Mk1 GTi Cab, with lowered stiffened suspension, strut braces etc, so I'm kind of expecting the clio to feel like that, 7 weeks and we'll find out!!!??? One other question, I didn't order the CD mutli changer, thought £300 was a rip off, I've already found a site that sells brand new one's for £140 and I'll fit it myself. I have heard though that sometimes Renault supply the head unit without the pins in the back for the CD output (if you don't order that option), anyone had any experience of this?? Cheers Ben. shao_khan
the cup pack is a good option because it comes with the black wheels also which will look good against your colour choice. I never bother with a changer unless it comes as standard mainly because I only tend to play one cd to death so a changer for me is pointless, I'd just change the Headunit for a single cd. cant wait to see the pics, I do like that black as it does have a good gold fleck in the right light. audia8s2
I will certainly post pics when she arrives. Guys at work think I'm mad going for the Clio after the A8 but who cares eh, particularly my mate that's just bought an S3, think he's pleased because he's fed up with the A8 howling past on the way to light speed. He knows I will try even harder when the Renault arrives !!!!!
Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] ...no lock on the drivers side but a lock on the passengers side? must be a French thing... [/ QUOTE ] Sounds like typical French rhd conversions, similar to the wipers on the 206 [not clearing the top right of the screen] and the handbrake in the Xantia. Love the quirks, makes them what they are. Ian C
