AZURES3
ARI I know how you feel I ordered in Jan2002 and go my car in September 2002. AZURES3
Ari
Az that's worse than mine! And you had to go through the summer and get in time for Autumn! Good job we had a good September! I originally test drove a 2.4 in September as I knew the 1.8T would be available to order eventually, so in a way I've been waiting since then, but at least it's been through the winter. Must have been a real sod waiting through the summer for yours...
AZURES3
ARI I can say it was not a pleasant experience especially as I had sold my S3 in March and was sharing the girlies 1.2 Clio I think you have made the correct choice with the 1.8T, I drove the 2.4 and sorry to say i thought it was gutless. The 1.8T should have more mid range punch.I know the A4CAb is not meant to be a racer but the 3L made the transition from S3 to A4CAB that much easier. Ari
I agree, the 1.8T should have a lot more low to mid range pull. I found the 2.4 could be made to go a bit, but you had to rev the heart out of it... I also think that whilst the 2.4 is smoother and sounds very nice with that lovely V6 noise, the turbo whistly 1.8T will probably sound a bit sportier with the top down. Dinky D
As a 2.4 owner I'm a bit sensitive to your comments guys Saw a 2.5 TD Cab in Chiswick yesterday sounded like a bag of nails........
Ari
not knocking the 2.4 mate, it's a lovely silky smooth drive. Just found you had to rev it to make it go, whereas I think (hope!) the 1.8T will have more low down pull, which I like in an engine. What we need is an engine that sounds and feels like the 2.4, but pulls low down more like the 1.8T. That'd be the 3.0 then, only another £2,500.... As to the diesel Cabrio, just can't get my head round that one, although to be fair it's a bit hard to be objective without having driven one. Just doesn't seem right though somehow... [/ QUOTE ] Dinky Dont take it personally but I drove there in my S3 and straight in to the 2.4, so it was not really a fair comparision. I just think the 1.8T is a more advanced engine than the 2.4 which is quite old now and is all cast iron. My 3L may offer the best performance of the engines by some margin but it is thirsty at its C02 output is similar to a powerstation, some way behind BMW in the CO2 department. Roll on the new 3.2v6 FSI. AZURES3
Dinky D
Guys relax..... Just havin some fun I'm drivin one of the best looking cars in the UK (in the best colour!). The Cab is a heavy car and not quick in any guise. Anyway who can see you if your going fast.... Dinky. Would be interested to see how the Turbo works out
Hants_Cruiser_UK
I agree with Dinky_D on the Cab being one of the best looking cars on the road today. I too am sensitive about people saying how gutless the 2.4 is - as I drive like and old man, I think ill be more than happy especially as I am coming out of a 1.6 105 bhp Leon. I spent about 2 hours down a rival delership at the weekend drooling over all their shrink-wrapped Cabs wishing I could see mine. At my dealership my Salesman said hopefully it will be on their premises at the end of this week. At the moment it is at their holding compound in Marchwood. Then I will be able to do an "Ari" and drool and take pics Its a long time coming - ordered mine in July 2002 12 Days and counting Ari

Actually, it's just reminded me, at Christmas I was telling everyone that Christmas had been postponed till 1st March! (Think it might have confused the people that didn't know I was getting the car though...! )
