A3dude
When the steering is turned at very low speed ie. parking or pulling away i can hear a clicking noise, the dealer tells me this is because i have a heavy 3.2 engine and it is the suspension creaking under the weight and this is normal as there demo car does the same. Am i being fed a load of bull? as i think i am. Considering the dealer has had 2 failed attempts at aligning my steering wheel correctly they still managed to do a 25 mile test drive and said ok sir steering wheel is spot on now, it took me 0.1 miles to see it was still off center. So took it back and they removed the steering wheel and moved it one spline to the left, its still slightly off, but i can live with that for now. BeakerBuddy
Sounds like a line, certainly no clicking noise from my heavy 3.2 when turning... Although the gearbox made a very unnerving clunk sound when changing it's mind at a junction this morning
Simonl
No clicking for me either, but it does always clunck when I change gear (with the window down). Although this has mellowed quite alot over the last 3k
fouringer
Don't get any clicking with my "heavy" 3.2 either. The clunk on a gear change is probably the quattro drive train -I get this on low speed upchanges, but not when booting it. Try closing the window and using the Bose! A3dude
Cheers for the replies, mmmm! i thought as much. A "heavy" engine, i think Audi might of thought of that one. Its amazing the horse crap dealer feeds me. will see how it goes and think i will be changing dealer. 1st 2nd gear is clunky, and its quite hard to get a decent smooth change with that sensitive throttle pedal, and if you mess it up then it does make a definate clunk/knock. use to it now though, must be a characteristic of the setup. Another thing i have noticed is that on idle if i blip the throttle there is a metalic pink/knock noise from the engine, its fine if you hold the revs at 2000rpm then blip. So i have stopped doing this. thoughts?
BeakerBuddy
Sorry can't help...with DSG if you blip the throttle on idle the only metallic sound would be from hitting the car in front.
