Misfire solution (maybe)

Dealer contacted me today to say that the problem is 'more than likely fixed'.

ALthough the car is still booked in next week at an Audi stealer (just in case), he is confident that I will have the car back tomorrow afternoon.

The 'claimed' problem - an injector (on cylinder 2) that's on it's way out. He brought in an independent Audi specialist and got him to do all the diagnostic work (i assume this guy has a VAG-COM or something similar).

Apparently at cold the injector is fine and gives the correct electrical resistance. When at operating temerature the resistance on the injector becomes much higher (three to four times what it should be) - the ECU then closes down that injector as it doesnt know it's there.

There is a new injector arriving pre 10 in the morning.

Ofcourse all this is 'allegedly'!

Does this ring true to any of you in the know?

Laffer.

Sounds fishy to me, but I hope it works!

You hoped right! Bloody amazing, thats all I can say. She purrs hot or cold now, cruising or under stress. Stealer left the faulty unit in the car in the box the new one came in (genuine Audi part, Made in Spain! Strange looking object to a non mechanic type chap).

The problem would appear to be as they diagnosed it. So with a misfire it sounds as if it is worth checking the injectors (or at least the resistance on all the injectors, if one is very much higher than the others - it's on it's way out).
