Evening all,

Felt I finally had to put my tuppence worth in, seeing as I've been avidly reading Sniff since '01, and have yet to show my appreciation. Actually, I've never even engaged a forum before, so a bit of a leap into the unknown...

May I raise the dubious subject of Alonso becoming an online comic book hero, battling evil superior beings? Honestly, I ask you?

And, er, where's the December Sniff got to then?...

As a former MG Rover employee, fan of Sniff Petrol and member of MG-Rover.org forum; Many thanks for your contribution to the Sniffpetrol 2006 calendar for a worthy cause. Carrying ads on my site too (www.CarHunt.co.uk). Lets hope it sells like hot cakes, it deserves to. Love the final F*** them, F*** them all ad. Am buying two. Just so I can frame the last one! smile.gif

So you need some ideas? Well, I think sniffpetrol.com needs an American correspondent. Here's a timely article for you:

Ford Pins Recovery On Layoffs and Pimped-out Mondeo--Again.

The head of Ford has declared that laying off 30,000 workers and closing 14 plants "um, sometime" will bring the company back to profitability--and closer to it's long-term goal of having no manufacturing capability of any kind.

Chairman and CEO Bill Ford minimized the impact of plant closings. "These workers earn a base rate of $55 per hour. Surely they've saved or invested some of their earnings. I know I did."

He denied rumors of a plan to cancel all health care benefits, which would accelerate long-term pension cost reductions through "attrition by death."

Ford's newest entries in the crowded high-price low-quality American-built small sedan class--the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, and Lincoln Zephyr, based on the European Ford Mondeo--are hoped to restore credibility and profit to the company, which lost $1.4 billion in it's North American operations in the first nine months of 2005. Pursuing Ford's "Shiny Future" styling theme--adding five pounds of chrome for each $2000 of base price (or $400 per pound)--the company hopes that the progressive gaudiness of each model will remind buyers of Ford's glory years of the 1960s, a marketing stroke that made the retro-designed Mustang it's sole 2005 success.

Evoking bygone prestige is particularly crucial for the new Zephyr, Lincoln Division's attempt to lower the median age of its buyer base to 45 from it's current 82.7. However, industry analysts have questioned whether any buyer alive will connote the Zephyr name with the elegant late 1930s Lincoln Zephyr and not the execrable 1979 Mercury Zephyr, a car that Lincoln's targeted baby-boomers are likely to remember with hot shame.

Chairman Bill Ford angrily denied reporters' assertions that the company's previous attempt to tart up a Mondeo resulted in the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique of the late '90s, both discontinued after six years of disappointing sales. Ford lambasted critics, accusing them of "attempting to rewrite history," going so far as to suggest that they are "emboldening the enemy."

Watch it disappear into oblivion with all the other 'ground-breaking' flights of fantasy which are wheeled out by the scarily optimistic/wilfully ignorant/plain mad from time to time.. :-(

Hello, I'm new by the way & I can't abide James Allen.

All power to Dunsfold's Omnipotent Script Editor - please keep up the good work.. wink.gif

Hi, I'm new to the forum (and also to Sniff Petrol in general although I've been making up for it by spending the afternoon reading the entire back catalogue) and I just wanted to say hello. And, because I didn't want to post without having something - however crap - to offer:

Haha! I love it and welcome! I'm sad to say I've been a member for a while and love it- but have neglected this area for some time, I promise not to in future, you will have fun here, there are no real arguments or nasty stupidity that other boards offer- here we have fun, take the piss (in a good way) and have a laugh at shite cars and presenters!
