NewNiceMrMe
Actually, now that I have used this on the move - I can't really complain. It isn't as bad as I thought. It was very dark still when I left for the office and whilst I think the display is still too bright it was easily readable when blue and still readable, though a bit more effort was required, when red. How many of you have it on the windscreen mount, and how many on the dashboard mount? The raking of the screen on the M3 means it is within arms reach, but at a stretch, slightly offset from centre of screen close to instrument binnacle. Wondering if I should mount it on dash as it is less obtrusive (and less obvious to other road users cos' I must say I think it stands out a mile in the dark!!) or will it be affected by the resting position of wipers? I think it'd just clear them. Then again, that means marking the dash with the sticky pad thing I don't really wanna do that.
smjohns
I am thinking of buying this one although a chap at their UK Motor Show stand (last year when RA2 was released) confirmed that there would be a major upgrade to it early this year. Not sure if this is still the case though as not heard anything else about this. I am also a bit concerned that although they have spent so much time and money improving their original device, they forgot to include the auto speed muting. Yes if you are driving under 15 miles per hour it will not bark at you if you pass a camera but surely it would be nice to have had the option that you could disable the warnings if you are within the speed limit for the camera. All of the competition offer this feature so why RA felt it should not be included is beyond me. RA2 is currently the best but I will not be replacing my Bell Euro550 with a GPS device until I can have something that works as well as the RA2 but with speed sensitive alerts. NewNiceMrMe
I'd prefer to know where all the cameras are rather than it not tell me there is one present just because I am within the speed limit for the road. Besides, the chances of that being the case are very slim indeed..
smjohns
Lol I see you point. The reason I would like the option to enable speed sensitive warnings is that in and around Birmingham the traffic is so bad I can rarely exceed the speed limits and with there being so many cameras it would be a nice touch. I know that the Snooper S4 offers this feature and everything else the RA2 offers, I just not keen on Snooper and it has not had the sweepingly good reviews the RA2 has had. Perhaps just a small request then on an otherwise perfect product.
NewNiceMrMe
Well I'm certainly pleased so far although I do think the idea of waiting 24 hours for activation is so archaic it's ridiculous. As it happened I received an e-mail the next morning having registered at 10pm. I still think the unit is a bit too obvious in the window though. I'd have preferred it to be more discreet but I guess it is a difficult balance between what you can actually see and the size you can shrink it to! NickHews
I've had an RA2 for a couple of months now and chose it 'cos I can swap it easily between cars. Yes, stuck on the windscreen it must be viewable at night for a couple of cars back, but at least they know why I suddenly put the brakes on! Oddly(?) I drive more slowly and carefully in speed-restricted areas now - I'd kind of expected that it'd be the opposite! Anyone like to comment on the psychology? RossG
Mine is set to not go off if I am doing less than 15mph. Very handy when you are in a traffic jam 50 m from a camera
NewNiceMrMe
Never thought of that - cos' it'd be damned annoying! I'm going to apply that setting myself tonight. Thanks Ross!
