Ok so some of you will have noticed that I have been looking into ordering a new Boxster lately, well yesterday I went to Porsche Swindon ( unfortunately owned by Dick Lovett Group smashfreakB.gif) and tested a 54 plate 2.7, so here goes...

Firstly I have to point out that when I get one it will be the 2.7 version (am I brain dead?) hee hee.

Ok so I got to the dealer in Swindon and was passed by the salesman in his BMW?! he was off to get a sandwich (nothing like customer service huh!) So I had to wait around 15 mins for the salesman to return, so I had a look at the 996 GT3RS sat in the showroom, what a beast!!!!!

When the salesman returned we got straight down to business, he brought the 2.7 in arctic silver over to the entrance to the showroom, this one had quite a lot of extras on it and equated to £40,000 worth blush.gif

The first thing the salesman said, was "I did tell you that this one is Tiptronic didnt I" My reply " frown.giffrown.giffrown.gif No!"

I almost felt sick with disappointment! So we went out on the test drive with the salesman driving first, (dont know why they do that?) I was looking over the interior which on first impression seemed pretty comparable to the Audi's I have owned, and infact the plastic seemed a little cheap shocked.gif!

The salesman was using the usual smalltalk and I was just itching to swap seats, we got out into the countryside near to Wroughton (Wilts) and then it was finally my chance!! ECLIPSe.gif

I turned the key and the V6 purred into life, (I hadnt really noticed the engine note as the salesman had been boring me to tears!!) I then selected D and pulled away, my first impression was a bit dissapointed but then it suddenly came to life and whooooooooooooooooooooooaaa what a car we flew up to 60+ through the country lanes and I was in my element,I dont know if I would use the stereo much, the exhaust was playing its own tunes notworthy.gif the steering was so informative and it felt as though the car was on rails! We came up behind a learner but luckily it was a long straight road, the boxster flew past and felt so quick! We headed back to the dealership and I had a big grin on my face! grin.gif

When we arrived back at the dealership I saw another new Boxster parked up, this was in Black and I noticed it was the 3.2 S version with the gorgeous 19" Carrera S wheels smlove2.gif

It was then that I actually paid attentionn to the salesman! He told me that the S had a manual box and that maybe I would like to try that one to get a feel for the manual, so I thought about it.......... for a milisecond and he went to get the keys, the S had been seriously specced and had the full leather interior (dash etc) now I know the S is more powerful, but the manual made it such a better drive!!! I felt like a kid with a new toy! We went out on a shorter route and it was there that someone in a Silver Vectra LS (see spotted forum) decided to race me jump.gif

All in all I LOOOOOVVVEE the Boxster and will be placing an order, the dealer in Swindon was quoting July as the earliest delivery time, I know that other dealers can doo better and will be shopping around before commiting,

what a car! notworthy.gifnotworthy.gifnotworthy.gif

Just picked my Mark I 2.7 Boxster up today I am so impressed by it. I havent drove a fast car for two months since the R 32 went but it does feel faster than the R 32. I also havent drove a rear wheel drive since my old BMW Coupe in 1999 so I forgot how much fun rear wheel driven cars are. The Boxster feels so poised and fixed to the road so glad I got it also dosent get as much attention as my old nicked R32 which is brilliant.

I also nearly cried today when I filled her up and the trip computer said 320 miles. Never got more than 230 out of the R32 and 290 on average out of my previous two S3's. The monthly payment and insurance is also less than the R 32.
