OMG - how did THAT happen!!!!

Is the roof/rear damage from a roll, got to be surely - either that or something damned heavy fell on you from a long way up!

Got to admit driver compartment looks well considering the rest of the car. Hmm, ok, point taken, I'll put the 306 down on the list (it was reliability too remember that my sister had issues with, what was yours like for that - and what engine was it). Would I get a TD for under £2k or around that (bearing in mind limit £2500 inc insurance)?

C007 - about 6 years ago I had a Micro 1.0 L for a week. I was impressed with it for pottering about in but you've mentioned the biggest drawback and the reason I couldn't buy one now - motorways & praying.

The journey into work is all major A road. A1 in particular at one of its very busiest stretches up here in the NE. Put it this way, my Road Angel thingy flashes up three blackspots in the time I am on it (which is no more than 8 miles, but 30 minutes minimum on a morning and evening) - and it isn't kidding either.

In terms of getting blown all over by the wind - as I cross over Blaydon Bridge every morning I'm not sure I'd fancy that. Anyone who has experienced the crosswinds on there will know what I mean.

I think it's just a bit too small too. Thanks though, much appreciated honest input. 169144-ok.gif

Going to see a H plated BMW 320i Tourer tomorrow.

Red, black cloth, manual, 89000.....FULL BMW SERVICE HISTORY....with the supplying dealer....1 owner.

How jammy am I. Mentioned hunt for a car at work today and got an e-mail 40 mins ago to tell me of the FD's neighbour who is retiring and selling it for a newer car. Nowt wrong with it, just wants something smaller. Dunno if he knows what he's doing but he's asking £2200 ono - but up on the price perhaps but FD desribes it as "his pride and joy" (his neighbours, that is).

I'll let ya know...I'll taking monies with me so with any luck can post some pictures tomorrow. Bloke sounds really decent....1 owner eh, wow.

Just to close this one off, I have been to see the car today and it is absolutely mint. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen a car of this age in this condition - it was better than most of about a year old!

The guy bought it new as I was told and it has had everything done at the dealer. He even showed me receipt for bulbs and fitting! It also had 4 x brand new Dunlop tyres on it that were fitted 6 days ago.

However....my FD gave me the wrong bloody price. He got the £200 right. But not £2200, he wanted £3200.

IMO he'll get £2900-3000 - it was that good. Not a single mark on the bodywork, and I mean not a single mark. I did drive it just in case I thought the wife might be tempted to let me go to the £3k mark and it drove superbly. It pulled very well, was as smooth as a new born babies bum and was very quiet.

The first aid kit and toolkit were present and never used by the looks of it. The interior was gleaming.

Best thing though - the guy said "if it hadn't been raining overnight I would have made sure it was clean for you" - it was bloody gleaming! Bit sad this part - he even kept a list of the dates on which he had waxed it....going back 8 years!!!! Twice a year, every year, and on some occasions 3 times. I suspect that is what has kept the bodywork in such amazing condition.

I asked if he'd take £2500 but it was a no-goer. Even then I'd have had to bribe the wife because as you know £2.5k was my limit including insurance. Incidentally, it has 12 months MOT and he's just put a full years tax on it too!

He was very nice about it though and even said sorry for any confusion (which is what the FD should be saying really!).

It turns out he has bought a new Yaris now that he has retires and says he'll only use it twice a week - someone will get a stunner when that comes up for sale too (I suspect when the poor bloke pops his clogs).

Since getting home I have tried convincing the wife that it's worth a shot at £2800 but she's having none of it.

Anyway, still on the look-out. If anyone wants to know the details of the guy let me know, because it is stunning as I say. He has someone else coming to look at it tomorrow morning too, someone he's worked with who obviously knows what an amazing car it is.

I truly hope he gets full price because people who look after their cars like we do (and this guy did and probably moreso) deserve every penny.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Just talked to the wife whilst collecting a cup of tea to bring upstairs to the study as her and the eldest daughter want to watch "Love Actually" on DVD so I have been banished out of the way (nice eh).

Anyway....she said "If you got that car, would we be able to use it to go horse-riding in (the daughter has a horse) and would you let us but bales in the back?"

My reply "Well it doesn't matter now does it, but yes I probably would have said we could line the back with Poly and you could get bales in, why?"

Wife "Ok, go on then, ring him and see if he'll drop a few hundred quid"

EEEEKKK!!!

Straight on the phone...

Yes, you guessed it, the guy who went to see him today snapped his hands off and he got £3100 for it. I know I could have got him to do it for £3000 too, I'm sure.

Bloody typical! Women! Bloody women!!

I am well p*ssed off now!!!!!!

GF has a horse and she was at work.. I ended up seeing to the horse.. do they just roll around in shite all day or what?

Sorry off track...

So if your looking at other cars does this mean a 4WD may be better?.. Horse stuff carrier?

No, wouldn't want a typical 4WD. Besides, the place the horse is kept isn't difficult to get to - it's a proper paddocks/stables place with easy access. They'd only use it for hay once a week in all probability - she was just wanting to know I'd let em use it on such occasion.

I think there was a touch of guilt for holding me back for the sake of £500 too. I'm gonna milk it now!!!
