AudiPartner
Having just got back from an absolute caning in my S3 , I've decided its time to chop in the rubbish tyres that came on my new wheels. Don't want to spend too much mind. What we all running? (18's)
Wallachie
I've recently changed from Conti Sports ( ) to Bridgestone Potenza SO3's which are very good indeed, especially in the wet. I've also had Bridgestone Potenza RE040's but the SO3's are definitely better.
Paul
Mitchelin Pilot Sports (ver 1) here. not cheap at circa £160 each, but they last and give good performance.

langtonr
I've heard good things about the Toyo T1-S. Had a set fitted on the weekend, but haven't really had a chance to test them out properly yet.
ChrisT
All my cars before the S3 have had Toyo's (including an A3T) and I put GSD3's on the S3, there no comparison for me, the Goodyears are much nicer. In fact I switched my little runaround over to GSD3s and there is a noticable difference. So my vote is for GSD3's not too expensive either
MattMay
Ive also got the Mitchelin pilot sports. Very good in the wet and as Paul said should last quite well. Shame about the price.

Think they are of a similar price anyhow. Graham

benafia
Which? Magazine doesn't cover 18s unfortunately, but here's what they say about 16s and 17s: 205/55 R16 V The Bridgestone Potenza RE 720 and the Michelin Pilot Exalto both offer excellent dry grip and good wet grip though the Bridgestone is noisier. Both are available at a fair number of outlets and should cost anywhere between £80 and £123. The Firestone Firehawk TZ200 and the Pirelli P7 don’t have quite as good dry grip, but are quieter and offer a more comfortable ride. The Firestone is likely to be cheaper to buy at between £69 and £98. The Pirelli costs between £80 and £109 and is more widely available. 225/45 R17 W All the tyres of this size we tested had respectable results, but we’ve chosen two Best Buys. The Continental Sport Contact 2 costs between £114 and £145 and the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-Dbetween £102 and £140. Both offer excellent dry grip and good wet grip, but the Goodyear is marginally the quieter of the two. Both should be available in a fair number of outlets. I had some on my old 1.6 A3 and they were superb actually had more confidence in the corners than my S3 (although I do have absolute crap tyres on that ive never heard of!) Mollox
Vredestein? My experience of Conti's was not good. Eagle F1 GSD3s are very good on the S3 though.
Wallachie
I found grip in the dry pretty poor, compared to my old Bridgestone RE040's, and in the wet I daren't even floor it round a corner/roundabout or I would slide straight on (without ESP on). I've been running these for about 4000 miles now and they're stonking! Better than any other tyre I've used to date, and the only thing I'll be putting on the S3 for a while.
