UBM
If you get blinded, you know who it is - if I'm back in the land of the living - which I doubt! I was warned by the missus not to buy a new car when ill - I bought my last one when she went away for the weekend to get her wedding dress! Durrsaku
yes people normally do that (go buy a car) when having a middle age crisis i just seem to get one every year my wife tell me!
UBM
Your TDI (same as mine!) will come in useful if you're over this neck of the woods at the weekend. We're expecting some snow - quattro would be better though!
Durrsaku
well yes i have just read the weather repport. I will tend not drive around alot. Just had a question for you, How is your tuning box performing? are you happy with it? would you recommend it? i am thinking about one too as i like the idea of removing it when i want to and not having and increase in power up to 180 which is what a remap would do. Sparky
Mate, I'm in excatly the same mindset as you. Perfectly happy with my car (only 4400 miles so far!) and i love its looks, handling etc... but I've had 4 cars in 4 years. But I just fancy changing. I'm addicted I think to that new-car smell! I'm not sure about the cab. A lovely looker, no doubt - but I just don't think i'd drop the roof enough to warrant the price. I'm also thinking I made a mistake with the Diesel this time. I love the TDi engines, but I only do around 12k-14k miles per year and Audi told me that 15k is the minimum mark to consider a Diesel. I just loved the sheer kick up the arse when you floor it. Leaves all but the very very quick cars behind until they've caught up. I'm still waiting for the dealer to come back to me on a joint purchase of two new cars - but I've been and sat in the new S4 now, and to be honest, thinking about it, there's nothing new enough about it to warrant a change, except that engine!! But could I deal with 18mpg as Scotty said it does when not driving it hard? Ouch!!!
UBM
Hmm...good timing! I have just taken it off permanently. I had an issue with a fuel temp sender sporadic problem, according to the Audi Assist mans Vag-Com (of course having removed the box before he arrived). This caused the EMS light to come on on the dash, but it was the first time ever. He thought it was due to a faulty contact on the fuel temp sender and fixed it ( ). I have now removed it permanently, told my insurers again (saving 160 notes!) and also the people I bought it from have promised a full refund! However, while it was on, I was very happy with it. Personally, I'd probably go for a more expensive digital unit, but I'm a little bit put off for the time being!
UBM
Sparky - I've got a much cheaper solution - just buy one of those New Car Smell trees for your current car..... You're right - the cab is awesome, but impractical for our everyday lifestyle...
Durrsaku
thanks for the advice i would like to go for the oettinger remap again because of their clam of a moderated gain in power and good reviews but quite expensive hence looking at a tunnig box. UBM
I got mine for 50 notes off e-bay but it was supplied by Dragon Performance tuning. Worked very well and was well chuffed with it, but I have to take it off (which is quick) every time there is a problem with the car (two flat batteries, one red brake warning light, one EMS light). It certainly felt well-pokey, but there was an issue in second that the ESP kept coming on - too much power me felt! A remap is the safest but most expensive option. The insurance saving in taking it off is nice though!
UBM
Just looked at my current loan - borrowed 22k and went for insurance and repayment protection, which added an extra 8k, including the interest of the loan over 5 years....ouch! Still, jobs at the moment in my sector are a little dubious and my health is not as it was...
