R36 rumours

The suggestion is a 3.2 litre FSi engine up to 270bhp for the MkV Golf as the 3.6 litre engine might be too big. The 3.6 litre lump appears to be heading for the Passat only and a R36 in the Passat shell might be the alternative.....

Geneva next week will likely be the launch pad for a definite update from VW.

The new Passat is a stretched Golf platform. The same engines will fit both cars...

Interesting.....they still cannot get the GTi out in time so this will be some triumph to get the production of the new R by August 2005. I still await a reply from VW to my letter asking when to expect the new R. Watch this space!! 169144-ok.gif

Save yourself money, get an r32 , and tune it to 700 bhp!!! (no comment on the company) , thats twice the car of anything i can think of full stop let alone the r32. Staggering Specs.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Bora?

Yeah I think he might be. The Bora is a Golf MK 4 with a boot.

Also ETA on R32 still Nov/Dec in Germany and 3 months later in the UK so Feb/March 2006. I'll let you know when I have more of a fixed date for the UK launch.

No, not talking about the Bora. Go and read the technical info on the new Passat over on VWVORTEX. 169144-ok.gif
