acolonna
Hi everybody, I've been looking around for some info on what easy solutions I can find out there to tune my Polo GTI a little. I have heard some of you out there have installed the so called "PowerBox", with a 3HP raise and a very good torque push... where can I find it on the web? How much does it cost? Is it really as easy as it seams (sticking it to the diagnostics port in the dash and switching it on)? Thanks for your replies. Ascanio.
shao_khan
Hi - I dont think you will find any quick solutions unfortunately. I personnally would steer clear of these tuning boxes as they often trick the ECU into overfueling which isnt going to be a ideal way forward. There were a couple of companies offering full remaps for these, but again onthe NA engine the gains wont be big anyway. YOur best bet would be to look at modified exhaust and engine work like a ported head, new cams and so on, one of the tuning companies in the UK expects to get upto 200bhp from this engine - but it isnt cheap. acolonna
Could you give me that companies address? You know: if I ever had a bunch of money I could decide either to through out of the window or spend on making my Polo GTI become a real spaceship! Thanks dude for your reply. shao_khan
No worries, the company is here: http://www.advancedautosport.com/volkswagen.htm From what I remember they started out preping rally cars and stuff and took it from there. I think the full Lupo GTi conversion costs nearly as much as a new lupo gti!!!!!
northernchris
hi mate we have been fitting the 1.8 20v turbo engine in the golf/polo/lupo range for a while with very good results,£2500 would see the engine sourced and fitted for that. With that in place 220bhp isnt far away!!!!!!!!! drop me a mail if you are interested [email protected]
N3WOB
Interesting - would this need a different clutch etc? What other mods do you recommend to handle this increase in power on a Polo GTI?
