Ska
Right I've finally got VAGcom, a couple of questions for a sanity check: As I understand it having a 1997 A8 means I shoudn't have any problems connecting to the airbag control module as the light came on the other day when I removed the rear seat for a bit, so I want to reset it. Also how or where is the link on how to reset the service reminder? I'm scared that I might turn the A8 into a vegitable is that a real threat; I mean so long as I stay in the basic functions and aviod the advanced funtions of VAGcom then all should be fine, yes? Paul
Most Audi stuff is similar to this TT Tutorial, including locks etc. http://www.wak-tt.com/vagcom/vagcom.htm http://www.wak-tt.com/vagcom/vagcomclcoding.htm get yourself "basecode" from the link above, makes changing locks etc easy. when you get around to looking at measuring blocks http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/m_blocks/ take it with a pinch of salt tho. It is a matter of interpreting data, and what to look for and what to ignore. i tend not to bother with measuring blocks often, as they can easily lead to paranoia! Airbags, as warned on vagcom can be funny things, im not going to recommend anything but leave alone or play at your own risk.
Ska
Thanks Paul I've been brave (or stupid) and done an Autorun incl. the airbag module. I've cleared most of the codes mostly central locking stuff and airbag, and I've reset the service reminder but the DTC relating to the lambda sensor is a bit confusing: Address 01: Engine Controller: 4D0 907 551 C Component: 2.8L V6/5V MOTR AT D07 Coding: 04153 Shop #: WSC 00000 3 Faults Found: 18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17967 - Throttle Body (J338): Fault in basic settings P1559 - 35-00 - - <font color="red"> </font> 16518 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: No Activity P0134 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent Readiness: 0000 0100 Can you help on this? Does it mean its truely knackered or can it be ignored? I'm sure there is a way to check if its working correctly using the VAG but don't know how The car seems to drive fine. (Touch wood) Cheers
Paul
Tobes is the mechanic id delete clear them and see if it comes back. it wouldnt harm to do a throttle body reset either... http://www.wak-tt.com/vagcom/vagcomthrottlebodyadapt.htm that should solve the throttle body one. the tutorials are for the TT, but should be the same across the Audi range.
