[Audi A3/S3] Symphony In-dash CD changer - RANDOM function

Just a quick question:

When you select 'Random-changer' on the Symphony 6-CD changer how does it randomise the selection??

My old Audi changer (and my current BMW one) would select random tracks from all the CDs.

The one in my wife's car seems to select random songs from the first disc then when all tracks on that have been played, then select tracks in a random order from the next disc etc etc

This is not really what we were after - I assume this is something to do with the mechanism in the chnager, and that changing CDs frequently isn't possible or would be too time consuming?

Anyone have any ideas ?
