Nice looking hotel in the newly refurbished cardif bay area.

Hotel has all rooms looking over waterfront, and some offer good views over the estuary and surrounding areas.

Hotel staff were all young but top notch, everyone was polite, friendly and knowledgable, none of them could be faulted at any time other than one small incident (see below).

Rooms, were pretty good, above average space (35sq m I think), but did lack power shower, coffee making fascilities (you had to request these) and heating (they had turned it off for the summer).

I did request auxilliary heating and was given a portable fan heater, it had no sticker to show it had an annual test and on closer examination I could see exposed wires from the flex where it had got hot - obviously not a safe thing to be giving to a hotel guest.

Food - ordered room service for evening meal and breakfast. Both were luke warm, rice dish had cool rice that felt in texture like it had been stood for a while, and breakfasts were pretty poor most of them cold which wasnt nice.

Spa fascilities - top notch, excellent pools, saunarium, etc, all clean and well staffed.

OVerall - nice place, nice location, nice fascilities - but the food is cr@p, so if you eat out can fully recommend this place as a base.

I stayed there in December (wedding reception there) and although it was all very nice on the surface, I left thinking that something was missing from a supposed 5 star hotel.

The food we had was very good (for a wedding reception) and many people said they'd have been happy to pay for it i.e. like a restuarant meal.

Nice but could do better...although possibly not in Wales! wink.gif
