Woppum
I have always been told a bi-turbo is when one come in before the other, and a twin is when they both come in at the same time. So a AMG 65 is bi-turbo and a porka turbo is a twin...
cruiser647
[ QUOTE ] Anyway, as I understand it, the two turbos on my car are the same size and it is simply a case of one for each bank of cylinders on the V8. Of course, if there is a rationale for providing one turbo per cylinder bank, it makes you wonder what sort of fun you could have with a W12. [/ QUOTE ] The W12 in the Bentley GT has 4 turbos! Presumabley, 1 for each bank. As the engine is W shaped (2 V's together) The EB110 (Bugati) aslo has 4 turbo's!!!!!
cruiser647
I think.........most straight engined cars (6 cyl's) have 2 turbo's of some sort. Subaru's flat 4 comes with 1 or 2 turbos (not sure if the 2 are seq or twin) V's mostly have 2 equal turbos. (Saab has a Vx V6 in the Griffin model with 1 assymetrical turbo for a gentle shove rather than PUSH) BMWs 535d and Nissan's Skyline had sequetial turbo's for low ooomph and high end whooosh. Not sure if they still amke up for having less cubes...........????

Awesome performance too!!! Was going to buy a Ralliart Jap import with the twin-turbo (legacy estate), but wanted a 'classic' car instead to make money on.... FiftyPence
I had never thought of the difference before, i just felt that twin turbo was the name the japs felt like applying and bi-turbo just happened to be the name that VAG apply to their own.
