audijc
Hi guys, Hope everyone is well. I have spoken to the audi dealer where i purchased my car recently and they have told me that the model i have should already have the feature to open and close the sunroof and windows with the remote key enabled, when i informed them that the feature does not work the said that all of the newer models are being delivered with it enabled and that i should take the car to the to have it looked at. The dealership is in Bury St Edmunds but i live in North London and i don't really want to drive to Bury St Edmunds for the dealer to tell me that my car doesn't have the feature enabled and that they want to charge me £60 or more to have it enabled. Do any of you guys that have a VAG COM system live any where near Enfield? If so could we meet up and see if we can get it to work on my car. Any other comments welcome as this whole situation is a bit confusing.
Sparky
Is this where you hold the lock/unlock key down for a bit untli the windows start moving? Mine takes ages, are you giving it long enough holding down the key?
Milo
Mine is the same - 3 seconds or so before the windows all close/open. JC - is yours a new car? If so tell the dealers to bloody well enable it then if it is disabled and don't give them a penny! It takes them a couple of minutes maximum and to even mention charging you is a disgrace IMO and it's service like that's giving Audi the name they seem to be getting. I took my 2 year old car back to them and asked them to enable to beep for the alarm when you lock the doors. They did it without question and never mentioned charging me. Not all dealers are the same but if I pay £25k for a car I expect some sort of decent service standards. Phew, rant over. Bad day at work.
Sparky
I was offered all manner of things during its PDI. I asked if they'd charge me for it, and he said "No, it's all part of the PDI". I never actually bothered with altering options, but that is a con.

Anyway, whats the point of the windows thing? Its funny when drunk though. (not drunk and driving car obviously, just standing by it and laughing a lot.)I'll get my coat. Don't let dealer charge though. Right rip off.
audijc
I hope it's not just me being incredibly dense but i have tried a number of times to make it work, but no joy. I have been pressing the button once to lock the car and then pressing and holding the button down to make the windows close, but it does nothing. Is this the correct procedure or should i only press and hold once? I know it seems a bit trivial but it would be a very useful feature for me as i am a wheelchair user and it can take a while for me to get my wheelchair in the car, and when it is very hot weather it would be good to open the windows and drop the top before i get in. In answer to your question Milo my car was ordered in november and i picked it up in January so its only 7 months old. As i mentioned earlier i would be interested in trying to enable it using the VAG-COM system if anyone has one in my area. As you suggested i will also be ringing the dealer to see if i can get it enabled for free.

Milo
I have just tried mine: With the car unlocked and windows open, press and hold lock: car locks and all windows close after a second or two. With the car locked and windows closed, press and hold unlock: car unlocks and all windows open after a second or 2. Mine is the old shape model (B6) but I would imagine this is the same for the new model (B7) as well. Definetely ring the dealer. Tell him the window auto close/open was not enabled during the PDI and you want it done. Any dealer who trys to charge you for this needs their backsides kicked. The auto close/open feature is in the handbook so it should have been enabled from when the car was new. While it's there, get them to enable the alarm beep as well! There may well be someone local to you who has VAG-COM but you shouldn't have to put up with the hassle when it is the dealer that is at fault. UBM
Hang on , I might have spotted the problem jc. You mentioned dropping the top. You can't get the remote window function to work if you have a cab.....especially if the beep when lock function and autolock on driveaway are activated. audijc
Thanx for your swift replys guys. I have just been to try it but no joy. From locked I pressed and held the open button for about 30 seconds the windows did not budge. I'll ring the dealers first thing in the morning. Does the fact that its a cabriolet make any difference? I seem to remember reading something on a forum that it is disable as a security feature on the cabriolets. lottiefox
Works on the TT in the same way as others have said, but seem to remember trying it on the cab and it didn't......
audijc
Ok so it is coz its a cabriolet. Is there any way round it?
UBM
Please see above posts by Ari and I - it does not work remotely on the cab. But remember you can put roof down/windows down using the key in the drivers door. unlock car with remote. Put key in doorr lock, twist clockwise once and again within two seconds and hold the key in the turned position. Roof will lower. Do it again with roof down and i think the windows lower! lottiefox
Not sure, I am not technical! if there is a way someone on here will know it! Welcome anyway jcaudi, and any pics of your new cab would always be welcome here! Ignore what they say, it is indeed an A4 forum, I am just allowed in as the TT one is quiet...... lottiefox
But Milo, cars do that when their handbrakes aren't on....sneaky lil' swines aren't they. Anyway, sorry. grovel. you may leave the naughty corner as way of my apology.

audijc
Thanx for the offer Milo but i think i'll keep what i've got. Anyway the hand controls i have on it might make it a bit difficult for an able bodied person to drive. The last person to drive my previous car got their foot stuck between the foot pedal and the hand control and ended up crashing into a brick wall,it ended up costing me £1700 to get it fixed. Hence no one else but me has driven my A4 since i got it.
