Paul
[ QUOTE ] HUNDREDS of racing fans were stuck in the pits yesterday after their dream drives were cancelled. And more customers of gift-voucher firm RED LETTER DAY face disappointment this weekend. Hampshire-based Thruxton racecourse and Everyman, which runs Mallory Park and Prestwood Hall tracks in Leics, pulled deals with Red Letter Days yesterday saying the firm owed them more than £300,000. Customer Harry Levey paid £100 for a 25-minute spin in a Mini Cooper at Thruxton yesterday. He said: “I’ve waited a year for a date. “Now Red Letter Day won’t give me a refund because they claim it’s not their fault." Thruxton boss Bill Coombs yesterday regretted the situation. He said: “I would lose more than £20,000 a week if I kept offering days out to their customers and not getting paid.” Mr Coombs and Everyman boss John Farnham had two emergency meetings this week with Red Letter founder Rachel Elnaugh, who had a baby boy on Monday. Mr Farnham said: “I’ve been chasing money for some time. “They are double their credit limit and they can’t say when or how much I will get paid.” Ms Elnaugh — a judge on the BBC show Dragon’s Den, which helps small businesses — blamed the suppliers for pulling the plug. She said yesterday: “We aren’t a company laden with debts. “We have £3.3million in the bank, which we are waiting to be released.” On Tuesday, Sun City told how a paintball firm cancelled a contract with Red Letter Days because it said it had not been paid. Before that, deals were already being reviewed by a Southampton sailing company which says it is owed more than £20,000 and Aintree Racing Drivers’ School. Peter Barnes, boss of the Lancs-based school, said: “Our bills have been paid until August 29, but we now want payment in advance.” Red Letter Day, which plans to issue shares on the junior AIM market next year, is late filing last year’s accounts. Ms Elnaugh said: “We’re implementing new accounting methods.” [/ QUOTE ] Source : The Sun

sayerbloke
Wow. They're one of the bigger "gift experience" websites, too... Glad I`ve always booked mine through other people, then!
FiftyPence
That is bad news, i thought they looked like a pretty safe company to do any deals of that nature with im just happy i havent bought anything off them. I wouldnt be surprised if theyve got that £3.3m on deposit and theyll be up and running again before we know it.
