DeanW
[ QUOTE ] My Audi A4 before going to Superchips did 0-60 in 7.2 secs. I now think it will do 0-60 between 6 and 6.5, probably closer to six. But the real difference is on the move from 50-100 it is fantastic. RJ are you going to get yours done. [/ QUOTE ] Is that for a 2.0T? My 1.8T is in for a Stage 2 at AMD next week, I hope the results are as impressive
lmmlmmam
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Tuning the 1.8T will only accentuate it's shortcomings in the refinement and driveability. [/ QUOTE ] I've got to disagree with you there. The drive after my Re-Map was so much more refined - Smoother , more low down torque , better MPG with normal use. It is a little more 'peaky' - the turbo starts to get going from 2500ish rpm now BUT as it's got more boost anyway sub 2500 it's easier to drive and smoother too The great thing about having the "DualSystem" box is I can switch back to standard in 4 mins - Just to make sure Hope that makes sense BUB [/ QUOTE ] Bub You quoted me fractionally out of context. They missing key word is CAB. I'm glad the re-map worked out well for you, but I maintain that it is not a good idea for the Cab. Also IMO any modification of this nature to a 1.8T cab is likely to impact resale not enhance it. So a cheapish removeable re-map may be OK, but I really can't see the point of blowing £1400 on AMD stage 2, esp. when (as Cab_Lad has stated) aspiring to S4 ownership. After all £1400 is often all the price differential is between used 1.8T cabs and 3.0 cabs. The 3.0 will always suit the cab much better than the 1.8T re-mapped or not. DeanW
Cab Mac, Like I said in the other post if this S4 hadn't come along at such a good price I wouldn't even be considering swapping my 1.8T, and to be honest I've no intentions of swapping it for at least 12 months. Everyone who has had the 1.8T engine chipped has only praise for the work done and to add a stainless exhaust for an extra £500 odd doesn't seem out of the way to me. I know you speak from experience having owned each of the engines in question but for the (limited) time I spend behind the wheel of mine I'm hoping it will have only a positive influence. I guess we'll see next week

CM [/ QUOTE ] I can see where you're coming from with regards to the 'cruiser' bit CM. Thats a fair point. But it seems that even six cylinders aren't enough for you! The point of a Re-Map for most is cheapish extra performance - More bang for your buck Some people change cars like their pants (which in my case isn't very often ) and if I had the money then I probably would too. But I haven't so I've gone down the tuning route. Plus I just like playing with my toys and the car is not a daily driver. I doubt many people consider how it would affect value come resale/partchop time. I didn't. I'll be keeping the Avant for quite some time and wont have to worry about that anyway. I'm also mechanically sympathetic and don't 'launch' the car at every set of 'lights,(I don't envisage any long term durability problems) I just enjoy the car and it's extra performance. REMEMBER CM-------- Fours a bore ,Six for kicks and Eights are great! (as you well know I guess ) BUB

Chav
Or just look for a decent specc'd black 3.0 cab, Cab_Lad? 220bhp vs 163bhp is very noticeable. And of course 3.0 is incredibly smooth. Then you'll have the colour you really want, and a power increase. Can't recommend it enough.

[/ QUOTE ] I did start looking at 3.0 Cabs a few weeks, I even specced a new one (and also a new 1.8T) just out of interest but too be frank there's nothing wrong with mine. I would like a touch more power - hence the re map (should also be 200bhp ish) and I'm sure it'll sound very V6 like with the Miltek It's not that I'm unhappy at what I've got it's just I like to make my cars a bit individual, I know 'blinging' cars isn't to everyones taste but I think a personal touch makes a car all that more appealing

Lottie - I'll be posting my opinions after the drive home on Monday, performance might be hampered by the amount of shopping me and the missus manage to accumulate in Oxford though
