NewNiceMrMe
WHAT A DEALER! Superb. Nipped out for 45 minutes in order to take the car over to the dealer and show them.... ...and they told me not to worry about it because I'd been honest enough to say, they'll take care of it. Back to a heightened state of excitement for picking the new car up now!

NewNiceMrMe
[ QUOTE ] Good stuff! They're looking after you a bit, aren't they! [/ QUOTE ] Yes, they are. Mind you...I know how to help myself.... ...they asked if I had any photo's of the M3 to send to their prospective customer. They then asked if they gave me the customers e-mail address would I send them on to them. I duly sent 20 (!) pictures and answered a few questions the customer had....and they promptly rang the dealer the following morning and left a £500 deposit on the car. So it's sold already! Perhaps its an indication that even a large BMW dealership will help you if you help them a litte.
cruiser647
Did you happen to ask, how much the garage were charging the M3 purchaser...........or did you manage to hold your tongue (but only just!)? What other questions did he have?

NewNiceMrMe
[ QUOTE ] What other questions did he have? [/ QUOTE ] It's a SHE actually. She wanted to know of any interior marks (of which there are none), how reliable the car had been and of any faults it'd had (just the two really, a replaced airflow meter and a broken rear spring), was it true I had just had it through it's Inspection I last week and put a full new set of Michelin PS2's on it, which yes it was true etc etc - all the standard questions. She also wanted to know what MPG I got out of it (23.9) and was delighted when she heard that. I didn't mention that it's only returned 17.2 mpg for the last 700 miles mind you....(foot down a bit maybe!). What was nice of her was that she's been looking for months and she said the dealer described it as "utterly immaculate and previously owned by a fanatical driver" and that she said from the photo's it had the best shine of any M3 she had looked at.....well of course it does my dear! It's the MrMemobile after all!

malagus
easy mistake. I know that a phoenix yellow M3 convertable is difficult to see, so lets give the bloke the benifit of the doubt. I hate these people. The seicento is full of dings and scratches. it must just be that big that you can't miss it. some people should not be let out of their houses. FiftyPence
Sorry to hear this MrMe. My R is currently parked in my space at home in the underground car park and to try and avoid any dings from the already scraped hire car next to me i have parked far over within my space and so far its been fine. Fingers crossed she will be ok when i start bringing her to work where the spaces are even tighter

scooby_simon
The are some good stealers out there.... Mum and Dad have a new V50 6 Speed Soot checker on order for Sept 1st delivery (ie about Sept the 7th) and they are going on holiday on the 9th; told the Garage this (Bells in Bedford) and they said, no problem, we can give you the car when you get back and they are not concerned that the old car will be 1000 miles higher (but it is prolly only £100 reduction). Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] Its almost impossible to keep anything looking new these days - my Boxster lasted 6 days before someone opened a car door in to it. [/ QUOTE ] Bazza I would say take the Mini but your lovely lady would kill me. Gutted the Porsche got battered so quickly. Yet again brings up the arguement of a second town car to leave anywear and use for the Sainsbury battle. Seems the way forward. MOSE
[ QUOTE ] Well I'm going to start doing the 'use 2 spaces' trick that a few people on here use. It's not as if this is a door-opening-in-the-wind-dent (which is bad enough and I certainly feel for Bazza on a car that is only a matter of days old). It's really a fecking nasty scrape and someone has obviously thought 'aw sh1t' and legged it as quickly as possible (because I was only in there 10 minutes). I just couldn't do this. I could NOT hit another car and then leave the scene without speaking to the owner or leaving my details. The worrying thing is that the M3 rear bumper is a complete section....so if they say the whole fecking thing needs replacing I'm looking at a very big bill. [/ QUOTE ] Its when ppl do this on purpose that really bothers me. I was in a Tesco carpark around Christmas time and I watched this guy scrape the side of a Bently in a Sierra only to see each and all inside finding it very highly amusing. When the sierra had left I took his number and waited for the owner of the Bently to arrive. Told the lady what had happened, she was obviously upset and distressed by it and it was a bloody nasty scrape from mid door all the way to the front. Naturally I handed over the Sierras reg number. Why anyone would find it funny is beyond me.

Seems the way forward. Respect to Peter B, Nik, Six Degrees, MrMe, John Carter et al who follow this philosophy. [/ QUOTE ] We try this with Mrs RossG's company car plus it has a fuel card and so the diesel is free. Thing is though - we still end up using my car more. She can do up to 1k miles a week and dosent really want to drive at the weekend - and I would much rather use my own car Now - if I had a great flippin gas guzzler I may have to change my position somewhat... Well that's partly my argument to justify a new car with a bigger petrol engine - we will use it less and therefore save money yeah, right
Ian_C
Fair enough Ross. Neatly cutting it into a weekday daily driver and a weekend joy machine. Having grown up on the darkside and with 55 mpg the norm there is absolutely no way I could fathom sub-20 mpg from my everyday car. Didn't Daz manage 7.2 on his way to work once? S4 would be great but there is no way I could live with a range of under 200 miles for a daily driver. So what 'big engined gas guzzler' have you considered for the future then!? MOSE
Why anyone has to go to Sainsbury's, Tesco's or one of them 'orrible supermarkets is beyond me as well. Much easier to do the shopping on line and get it delivered.
