Jimbob_S3
Hey all, Plugged my car into VAGCOM yesterday, I've got an error on the 'Xenon range'. Something like "range not adjusted". This would make sense as I've always felt the lights were poor ! The drivers side gives me about 12ft of range, obvioulsy I've just got used to 18 months driving in dark. The lights give me the following pattern across the road (Birds eye)... \__ \ If that makes sense. Do I just need to follow the VAGCOM procedure to readjust the range ? What would stealers charge me for this as I haven't got a registered copy of VAGCOM ? Cheers.
CarMad
I think you might have a problem with the motors on the lights, what car is it on ? Xenon headlights are auto adjustment only dependant on loads within the car. However I have heard of a few people saying the default is set too low. Do they go up and down when you switch them on to set up the levels, if you don't its deffo a problem with the motors that adjust them. If they do then you might just be able to adjust them upwards a little and hey presto better lighting.
Jimbob_S3
On an S3. No, they dont move up and down when i turn them! Knowing my luck motors will be knackered. I assume theres one for each light? Anyone give me any advice on repairing / replacing, is it a stealers job ??
CarMad
Oh... sounds like you have a bit of a problem, have a seach through some of the threads in this forum. It has been mentioned quite a few times before. Probably new adjustment mechanism or similar I would have thought to sort it. Have a check that there is no bad rust / etc. causing a problem. If they are working fine, they dip down then up to get the self leveling alignment of the beam for the load.
