Cheers for the dung.gif of the day award!

Yes, I've got spikey hair (hence Judder Man), and yes, I've got an S2 badged A2, and yes, I've got a custom-made Audi grille badge, but as my car now puts out 120bhp and does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, I think the S2 is justifiable (especially when your tongue is as firmly in cheek as mine!), and I've had too many 'where can I buy that badge?'enquiries to count.

So, perhaps your taste in what is good or bad is out of line with a lot of the other owners there today. But either way, live and let live - it could be worse - I could be driving a BMW 1 series!!!

Take a look at these:

As you can see, the grille badge is quite discrete and the rear S2 badge, is not from the original (and unimitable) S2, but is merely following in the style of modern S cars.

Any Audi owner worth their salt knows that there has never been an S version of the A2 (but it would have been bloody good if they had done one), but this badge came from the Neckarsulm factory, complete - ie I haven't just got an 'S' and paired it with a 2.

So, is it excess badging from a car that was going to be put into production, or what? Answers on a postcard!

Thanks chaps, esp. Audi Smitten - see you all again next year? Must introduce yourselves too. I know that a lot of people look down their snouts at the A2, but it is a cracking little car, and could have been an absolute belter if the bosses at Audi HQ had fitted a better lump and quattro (I'm still toying with the idea of putting a transverse 1.8T in it when the warranty is up!).

Anyway, no offence taken (well not for long anyway), I'll return the compliment Smitten if you're there next year!

I could do badges for interested owners, but they are very labour intensive (like 12 hours or so slaving over a hot dremel!) not to mention the £45-50 in parts.

Realistically, if anyone wants one, you're looking at about £150 - not exactly cheap, but sure worth it!

BTW, never saw the S4/TT incident - hope they throw the book at the little bleeder.

Nah, bollox, stick around on here! 169144-ok.gif

I think the A2 is a cracking little car. I fear the mistake Audi made was pricing it too high, as the general publis didn't "get" it and considered a bigger Golf for similar money to be better value. I've had a few A2's as courtesy cars and greatly enjoyed driving them, and the novelty of proper Audi quality in a tiny car.

Stick around, and maybe bring it to a TSN meet or two.

beerchug.gif The A2 is a cracking motor!!! I tried very hard to replace his last car with an A2 but he opted for a Volvo, and as for a 1.8T in an A2 EEK2.GIFEEK2.GIFEEK2.GIF DO IT!!

Mike, are you local to Castle Combe??? If so why dont you come to the South West meets, we are having a meet on the 11th of November, details in the meets forum! You can show off your handy work and possibly take some orders 169144-ok.gif (although maybe not from me tongue.gif169144-ok.gif)

Thanks for taking me into the fold guys, mucho appreciated.

I'm not from Wiltshire, but Mossley, half way between Manchester and Huddersfield, so I'll keep an eye out for northern meets.

As for the pricing of the A2, I quite agree - it was far too high. For what I paid for mine (and I specced it up from new) I could have had a new Golf GTi, a Civic Type R (plus quite a bit of change) or a 2 year old TT or S3.

Trouble is, it's built inj Neckarsulm, by the same chaps who build A8s, using the same materials, ie lots of aluminium. This means that the production costs are very high.

Now in an A8 costing £50k you can obviously recoup a lot of these costs, but in a £12k to £20k A2, not a chance.

There have only been about 15,000 cars sold in the UK over a 6 year period, and not many more on the continent. This means that on average, Audi lose about £1000 per vehicle sold, which is why they've canned it.

I'm not sure that Audi are interested in competing for this part of the market any more, preferring to leave the small, economical car niche to Polos and to some extent Golfs and Ibezas.

Well, it's their loss I say - and all of us at the A2 Owners Club believe we've got future classics in the making!

So you're not a chav then, like we all thought? My mistake, it must have been the ludicrous bling and the "S2" badge that gave me that impression. I was just behind you to your left at the beginning of the parade lap, and I couldn't stop laughing.

I thought driving a Audi was about being understated, classy, stylish and distinctive. If you want debadged, fine. But badging a car something it's not is laughable IMO, particularly to an Audi owner who is "worth their salt."

The illuminated badge must have taken you a long time and I can appreciate that.

And now it's putting out 120bhp, I don't know how you cope. You must surprise so many mini-MPV's at the lights.

Keep away from the foglight switch, won't you old boy?

Chav - moi?

As I said before, there never has been an S version of the A2, so how can I be badging it up as something it isn't?

And when you talk of ludicrous bling, I don't see a grille badge as qualification, especially as it was hand made by me. Maybe if I had 18" spinners and such like, or just added Max Power and Ripspeed crap, yes, guilty as charged. But to me, the badge is understated, very distinctive (and unique at the mo.)

Laying down the power is next to impossible, especially in the wet, but it's a hell of a lot better than a standard 90 or 75 PS car - and yes, there are quite a few surprised cars (esp. Merc A-class) left at the lights (not that I do that sort of thing often).

Fog lights are for fog - nowt else! It's one thing that really gets me going, and it's borderline illegal!
