johnny11
don`t know if anyone can remember but months and months ago i asked if anyone had any idea were this weird hissing/rubbing noise was coming from when hard on the gas pedal. After the car being in the dealers 5 times and the warranty running out in 5 days, they have informed me they are 99 percent sure where the noise is coming from, they say its coming from the alternater and the alternater belt, now the warranty will pay for the labour of all the work, all i have to pay for is the belt which is around £60, they also rekon they found a oil leak going onto the crankshaft which is also covered by the warranty, altogether they say its nearly 6 hours labour + parts,it goes in for the work next thursday at Epsom audi who i must say have been very helpful with this problem, so i just thought i`d share the info for anyone who has a strange noise from under the bonnet

johnny11
well this is not good, had a phone call yesterday from the audi garage to let me know my car was ready, so i picked it up this morning, nearly got home when a loud wooosh sound came from the engine, then when i pressed the gas it happened again, but the car moved very slowly then cut out. so got it recovered back to epsom Audi for them to sort out

johnny11
i was very impressed with it, the torque from it was amazing, the one i had had every possible extra as it was a demo car aswell, but i must say must next car might be a A6 3.0TDI after having that one for a few days. I couldn`t believe the power from a standing start the thing just flew it just didn`t seem right from a diesel. All in all exellent built car and i do like the new mmi layout, and the dvd based sat nav is so much quicker than the cd based one, i may have to get one of these cars ,sooner rather than later, just have to convince the wife... johnny11
i did get something a phone call from the service manager yesterday afternoon appoligising. I drove the car last night to check that the noise had gone and....its still f*****g there so they fitted a new alternator and bits all for nothing, back to square one. grahamb
My noise on acceleration required a £2200 gearbox rebuild... And the Audi dealer said to ignore the fault. "When it fails, we'll repair it for you". I didn't wait, I took it to a specialist who correctly diagnosed the fault and repaired it. Where are you? I'd happily listen to the noise and at least tell you if it were anything like the one from my A6. I'm Leicester based.

grahamb
My noise came when I accelerated, and disappeared when I lifted off in gear or knocked it in to neutral. The harder I accelerated the louder and higher pitched the sound. Turned out to be a bearing and lay shaft in the box, but then we found the flywheel had disintegrated, and the clutch was shot. Frightening repair bills these big cars seem to attract.
