shark_90
[ QUOTE ] Ben, what happened to the tuning box? [/ QUOTE ] It's started to cause a problem Rusty, so it's gone unfortunately. My ESP light randomly comes on and the Audi tech told me there was a fuelling problem on injector 1, and that's what was causing the car to shake more violently than expected at idle. I monitored it for a while, and when I was sat at the lights one day the ESP light came on and the car started shuddering at exactly the same time, so I thought I'd better do something about it. I've disconnected the box, and it hasn't done it since. It feels bloody slow but on the upside I've got DIS functionality back (55mpg runs again!!) Rustynuts
You know. The more I see of tuning boxes on VAG cars, the less I feel as though I should have one. Gotta be a remap soon. Seriously considering Star performance, cos wifey wants to go for a days shopping in Edinburgh, so I could drop her off and....NO! Bad idea, that. shark_90
Absolutely a bad idea.. the remap at 550+VAT then the shopping bill at around the same no doubt!! It has given me the taste for tuning, but having said that I will be selling the car around April/May I imagine (before I pile enough miles on it for no one to be interested at all) so I wonder if it's going to be beneficial to me. Then there's the insurance costs to worry about. I can't confirm that it was the tuning box that caused the problem, because before the tuning box was on the ESP light did randomly come on once or twice (which may or may not be the same fault - I didn't have VAGCOM at the time) but I certainly think it amplified it. And you have to remember that it did end up full water once If you see it on ebay, don't bid
Sparky
Your ESP light is caused by the fact you insist on going everywhere sideways.

J_C
[ QUOTE ] Those of you who have seen my car know how well it looks and I'm sure audi_smitten and John_Carter will agree with me about how well it drives. Everything still works, the seats aren't even worn. What a car [/ QUOTE ] Yes indeed - the car is A1, what my Dad (who's in the trade) would call a 'clocker's dream'. A great advert for the product. You're catching me up mate - my 80 has 'only' done 158,000 miles, and that's nearly twelve years old!
Milo
On the subject of high mileage cars, does this seem quite cheap to anyone else? linky At 93k miles, Audi FSH including cambelt at 70k and four new Michelin tyres I think it was a bargain. Durrsaku
That is not bad, not bad at all. A bit frightening thinking what my car is worth now.
shark_90
Yes, that looked cheap. But: It is a London registered car. Likelyhood of London-style driver. Likelyhood of it needing a new clutch shortly. It needed a cam belt at 60,000 not 70,000 which is a little worrying. Also, don't you think that the guy is a little eager to sell it? On the up side, full FASH, original everything. Looks good. 7,000 less miles than mine when I bought it, a year younger, and £700 less wedge. Mine is basically the same car, but has replica 18" rims and painted valances. And not such a girly colour

Audi A4 behind the one in question has a trade plate visible on the dash. Opps! MOT really was due though. A quick dig shows it just had its third birthday on 25th Sept.
