dsambrook
My A3 requires it's 1st vairable service at 17000 miles so I started phoning around the dealers. I live in Southampton but work in Wokingham so have tried dealers in the respective areas. The average quote was £240, the cheapest being Camberley at £235 and Portsmouth at £240. However Reading Audi quoted £350 and insisted that the other dealers were too cheap and they must be missing out something! I spoke to 6 other dealers all were at least £100 cheaper and stated that was an all inclusive price! I don't know how Reading Audi can justify this but I certainly won't be paying their rates! d3fy
Because they can, and mugs who don't ring around will pay it. What engine is it?
dsambrook
Southampton Audi just got back to me £200 all in! So I've booked it in! It's a 2.0 TDI DSG S-Line
Gren
Had both my AVS services at Camberley. They're always the cheapest (I tend to look more eastwards so its nice to note they're cheaper than others as well. They do a fine job and have just set up a brand new service centre. Decent staff as well. Seem to remember my first AVS was around £210 or so if you took off the Haldex oil.
h5djr
It seems that around the £200 mark is reasonable. I live 50 miles North of London and have just had the first AVS service on my A3 at 18,600 miles. The service, including re-coding out the auto door locking, came to a total of £184.25 with Vindis Audi at Huntingdon. Audi allow 1.10 hours for the Labour element of the service so the main difference in the costs between dealers is their hourly labour rate. Most charge the same for the parts although the amount they charge for the Longlife Oil can vary quite a bit. Vindis Audi were pleasant, polite, do what they say they are going to do, and gave me an A3 2.0T DSG as a courtesy car for the day. I have been using the same dealer for some years. d3fy
Whats that then 're-coding out the auto door locking'
h5djr
The new A3 can have the doors set to auto-lock at 15 mph. They unlock when you take the keys out of the ignition when you stop or press the unlock button in the drivers door or pull any door handle twice. De-coding them means the return to the standard setting where the doors do not auto-lock at 15 mph at all. My A3 was delivered without the auto-lock but I asked for it to be changed to auto-lock but I found it a nuisance at times, particulally when you want to drop off a passenger or if you stop, leave the keys in the ignition and try and open the tailgate, so I had re-coded out.
