I have noticed a few products on the shelves, 'two bottle solutions'etc. Has anyone got any recommendations or experience of using such products. Cheers. Gez.... Err... anyway moving swiftly on! I just use the Autoglym shampoo stuff I wash the rest of the car with. I give the hood a good soaking with the hose first, then wash it with the sponge and soapy warm water (going from front to back following the grain of the hood as recommended in the owners manual) then hose it off afterwards. Still looks good as new so far. Have heard other people hoover theirs (seriously!), but not sure how I'd get the Dyson up there! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Well thats what I was told anyway. I think the handbook, from memory, recommends that you clean the hood just using a brush and water for everyday cleaning. You can purchase some Audi cabriolet roof cleaner from the dealers to remove stubborn dirt and also to give it an all over clean every few months. It is actually quite hard to wash it conventionally as the water just seems to run off without touching it. Guess I'll have to get a brush thingy then. Any idea where you get them? jeff Posted May 30, 2003 Report Share Posted May 30, 2003 When I first washed my roof I used a cotton-covered sponge---huge mistake, the roof fabric pulled a massive amount of lint from the cotton surface. Since then I have had much better luck using the following approaches: 1. Use a microfiber mitt when washing (just water works fine). It won't shed lint and will pull dirt from the top. 2. For a dry touch-up, use a microfiber towel or one of those lint brushes (see below). It picks out seeds pretty well (we have cottonwood trees which can cover nearly every square inch nearby with cottony seeds). I keep one in a storage bin in my Cab. By the way, if you're really into keeping your car clean. A daily touch up with a California Car Duster (also see below) works great, although your neighbors will think you're wacky when they see you dust-mopping your car. More on the top cleaning issue, I happened to run across a thread in Autpoia.org discussing convertible top care. I emailed the customer service at Wolfsteins Pro Series.
