Sparky
The only thing I can assume here MrMe is that the power is sudden and in your face. Perhaps you'll get used to it over time? I haven't experienced what you are going through, so not sure what to say, but I've had various tyres on various 1.9TDi VAG engines and only had a problem in the Bora, and even that wasn't much to worry about. John_Doe
Chris, I found a nice example of the Alpins on google and guess what they were fitted to?? Its back to haunt you!!!
AntW
my previous car was an A4 1.9tdi. Whilst I didn't seem to get the types of wheelspin you are describing, it was certainly possible and especially at this time of year. A combination of leaves, wet and dry spells and greasy roads and its very easy to get a squeek from the wheels. However, the one main memory of my A4 was how little time you actually spent in 1st gear. Use it to get the car barely moving and get into 2nd and away! Rustynuts
[ QUOTE ] Use it to get the car barely moving and get into 2nd and away! [/ QUOTE ] That's the way. Never much use trying to speed away in first, as the gearchange is upon you before you have time to think.
NewNiceMrMe
Maybe it's just the frozen or wet Northeast. Either way, I've not had too many problems over the past few days when it has been relatively dry. I'm still going to go with the Alpins though. If anything it'll be interesting to see just how much difference winter tyres really can make in the UK, if any.
