RedRobin
Where in Dorset? I'm in West Dorset. Daylight meets gotta be favourite due to all sorts of reasons. I can't not say that I've just seen the gallery pics of MrMe's Beemer....Absolutely stunning! I'm in love with her too! Do you play poker, MrMe? There's three sixes in my post #
NewNiceMrMe
Dorset...land of The Ari. I don't play Poker....if I did I'd have a Zonda.
RedRobin
Sorry but i don't know what "land of The Ari" is! Where's the meet in Dorset? I don't play poker either but used to be a regular blackjack player at The Playboy, Park Lane many years ago. Was taught by a Chinese girlfriend who was a croupier. I digress with my fond memories! NewNiceMrMe
You're very much in the area of a meet RedRobin. Ari organises the annual Cab meet in Poole. There are other meets in the vicinity on a regular basis. You can't miss Ari though. He drives around in a blue A4 Cabriolet with a straw hat on (he'll like me referring to it as that). He's particularly partial to dropping his hood when it's snowing. Oh, and he has a fetish for large 4x4 vehicles.

RedRobin
Oh, it must be a Dawsett straw hat! Probably the real reason he drops his hood is so he can fit his larger women in his car! Oooops! I'm outta here! So, how do I find out the next Dorset meet? (and get sat on by Ari!!)
Sparky
Drop into the A4 forum now and then, or we'll give you a nudge when the plans start appearing. Ari will probably post a note in here too.

JamesB
Weekends are generally impossible for me because of a young family so I will continue to try to get to Windsor and MK meets. To be honest, I reckon one of the reasons meets are attended by a relatively small number of TSN members is (a) a relatively small number of TSN members are regulars and (b) there is a certain fear factor. At least, there was for me: (1) there's a fear that you'll turn up and it will be an old boys' club with everyone being great mates and you'll sit alone in the corner drinking your Babycham with noone to talk to. (2) you'll start to talk to people and find out you have nothing in common with them. (3) you'll turn up and they'll all look like serial killers (4) you feel slightly uncomfortable meeting up with a bunch of blokes you know from the internet (5) your wife will take the p1ss If I'm honest, I was very apprehensive the first time I went to Windsor, it's certainly not like anything any of my non-TSN mates have done but I very quickly found out that all the points above are either not true (1 and 2) or no problem whatsoever (4 and 5). I've enjoyed meeting a bunch of people from a range of backgrounds who I would never have met in my everyday life. There's always something people have in common because they're from a car forum. I've made some good friends and also found that community can do a lot for each other.
NewNiceMrMe
James, I like that fact that you acknowledged points 1 and 2 as being not true, and that points 4 and 5 weren't items to worry about but didn't say that the point shown below wasn't true... (3) you'll turn up and they'll all look like serial killers Accidentally deliberate of course.
Thorburn
Just to clear up a few things.... [ QUOTE ] (1) there's a fear that you'll turn up and it will be an old boys' club with everyone being great mates and you'll sit alone in the corner drinking your Babycham with noone to talk to. [/ QUOTE ] If your drinking Babycham then don't expect people who aren't wearing leather trousers and a suspiciously tight t-shirt to talk to you.... [ QUOTE ] (3) you'll turn up and they'll all look like serial killers [/ QUOTE ] Thats to be expected [ QUOTE ] (4) you feel slightly uncomfortable meeting up with a bunch of blokes you know from the internet [/ QUOTE ] At least you are going there EXPECTING to meet a bunch of blokes you know from the internet.... Daz
For those 9 of you, so far, who've polled that "There aren't any meets in my area" can you let us know what area you are in so we can look to sort this issue out. Thanks.
shark_90
"There aren't any meets in my area" I'm sorry but once again, this doesn't count. UBM drove from Herts to Buxton. jimdiesel came from York to Buxton. OmiHemps somehow made it from Darlington to Buxton. I live in the North Midlands yet I have driven to the A4 cab meet in Poole, the MK meet, the NE meet(s), Windsor.. SparkyUK also made the effort to get to Poole, and he's further north than me. I'm sure people have very busy lives, we all do. But a little bit of effort and maybe a couple of extra quid at the petrol pump never hurt anyone. Milo
I managed to make yesterday's little mini meet despite having to text MrMe on-route as I left the house without checking which services we were meeting at It was nice to see new faces as well as people from other forums. It was a shame Ben couldn't be bothered to clean his car before hand mind

s4dreamer
What about the Northern Meet Daz - that's been the longest running TSN meet of the lot (Windsor dated from pre-TSN days). Every month (tonight included) at the same place come wind or rain (and it usually does!).
sidicks
I've been to a couple of meets and my main criticism is that the organisers don't tend to make much of an effort to make any introductions so the meet tends to split into small sub-groups where people know each other. My experience is that new members that don't know anyone would feel pretty intimidated (or maybe that's me 'cos I'm so shy??) sidicks
Daz
Oops, sorry Trev, I knew I'd missed something out - now amended. We don't seem to get many pics in the gallery from this meet though?
CarMad
Went to the first Cheshire meet created by Chav really but he didn't turn up. But we are going to make it a semi regulary thing. As the venue / location will ensure a healthy number of people to attend and its very very easy to get to. And went to the Buxton meet. It was just under an hour to get to and I got a pass out from my other half. Was great too meet people face to face. And we all had a cracking drive on some fantastic roads to and from the meet. Would recommend anyone to turn up there are some great people on the forum and it really doesn't matter what you drive. But if you do have a Ferrari or and RS6/4 6 Series BM or something special expect a crowd to form.
