zoomx3
do do and please do check the lower front lip. it gets scratched very easily (because it is low) and is i believe a good indicator if your car has been driven without care - driven over bumps quickly, driven over undulating joints in the surface without any care. mine had scratches on it when it came. i added one last night :-(
OzGTI
Andy W, No sign of the triangle in Australia. There is the rubber strip/fastener bouncing around in the back to hold it down though.
zoomx3
no, there's no warning triangle or first aid kit for aust. it's not required legally apparently, we'll use the rubber ties to fasten something else - any ideas?
peugeot6
Hi OZ, no triangle for NZ either. The rubber straps bounce around in the boot if you go too quickly over speed bumps. Wondered what the noise was the first time I heard it. How do you find the leather, not too hot in the OZ climate? I did consider them, but at at additional $4k, decided to keep the cost down. Also I thought the interior needed a bit of a change from all that black. Just kerbed my left front wheel on Sunday, . thought I was miles away from the kerb, but no. Not happy Jan. Anyway the dealer says quite common and would be about $100 to fix. May just to that. First bit of damage to the car, so no longer new. Cheers
OzGTI
Hi LPDGTI, Well at this stage I'm taking the lack of triangle as a vote of confidence on behalf of VW that their product will never fail and therefore never require the triangle and that the 1300 number they gave me to call was in reality just a tokenistic act on their behalf. As you know we are still to get into the hot weather here in the south of the country (Melbourne) but our friends in Brisbane or in WA might have more expereince. So far so good with the leather but I'm yet to experience a day of more than 25 degrees. I'll let you know after a couple of 35 degree days in Jan/Feb. When you actually live with the car you realise it is not a black black but more of a charcoal black. I'm happy enought with it - though I think it more 'elegant' than overtly sporty - as is the case with the Interlagos. Sorry to hear about the wheel. I have the widest GTi known to man - I have been so aware of the wheels and their 'exposed' design since the day I got it i'm a bit inclined to park a bit away from the kerb. So far so good, but I reckon by right hand mirror might come under attack as a result of me being so carful with the left hand wheels. Plus the fact that it is a short walk from the car to the kerb means that my pasengers get some exercise. No bad thing really. For a small(ish) car I seem to be able to make it take up all of a parking space, especially when parallel or reverse parking. Cheers,
RedRobin
Kerbed my left front within first two weeks too....Only minor scratches but it's certainly sharpened my kerb awareness. Reversing beepers are well worth it imo. Pop the spare oil bottle in the rubber straps to kill the sound.

jamiey
Hey... it's the only fish and chip shop I've ever been to where they refused to give us our food as "the First batch wasn't up to standard so you'll have to wait until we cook some more..." It's in a fishing village so it pretty much comes straight off the boat. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

silentandy
Complete opposite for me, my gf parents live 10 miles away in Wolverhampton. Not a very inspiring drive or place, so I tend to look busy when she is going there.

WhiteHArtMart
[ QUOTE ] still better than 1/2 a mile up the road! [/ QUOTE ] That's about all I can muster to the in-laws! Still - could always say we have to visit some other members of the wife's family - that would be a 500 mile round trip - just about enough to run the girl in (the GTI not the wife by the way! )
Simonl
well seeing as though i'm picking mine up from dorset... thats a 160 trip straight off, in fact i could possibly extended to 250 without the wife knowing. her sense of direction sucks
RedRobin
Why is it that so many ladies have no sense of direction? I guess they don't need it on Venus where they come from.
