Pictures from the Tokyo Motor Show.

The grill looks a bit more subdued here and I think these pics do it more justice than the CGs that were floating around before.

Can still see the 1.gif influence and there seems to be something Hondaish in there too.

More pics here

Looking at their booth, it seems Audi put a lot of effort into the TMS. Even though it has only been a month since the Frankfurt show, 2 models made their world premier. One of those, the Shooting Brake, is a 2 door sports concept. It has a front mounted 3.2 liter V6 engine with 250ps, Quattro 4WD and a top speed of 250km/h. From the single frame grill and powerfull engine, you would think it would be the next TT, however Audi's promotional material staes this is 'merely a show model'and that there are no plans for a production version

[/ QUOTE ]

The S8 also made its debut. It has a 5.2 litre V10, apparently a version of the Gallardo's, pushing 450ps with 55.1kg-m of torque and a top speed of over 250 km\h. The body has been strengthened and it has the next generation Quattro system as well as Adaptive Air Suspension Sports.

The show opens to the public from Saturday to the 6th of November and the Mrs was mumbling something about going to Tokyo on the 30th...

I also heard that there is an Audi lounge for Audi owners so I might have to make a trip of it and get some of my own pics.

Engine had to be enlarged, as the Gallardo one is tuned for power and not torque - especially to push a big ol' saloon at a fair rate of knots

[/ QUOTE ]

Rev limit is lower, which is why it produces less power than the Gallardo, despite larger displacement, which provides the extra torque. FSI will be a nice addition for long distance cruising, should be slightly more economical than the W12 on a steady run (hard to be worse, TBH!).

60/40 split torque and firmer (than even 'sport') suspension and steering will make it handle nicely too.

I may have to have one.

Precisely.

See, I think it's a good test to remove the badging and place another manufacturers badge on any new car - and then see what people say.

You are almost always guaranteed a very different response and I genuinely believe people would think this Audi would look awful if they'd been shown it with a Daewoo, Perodua, Hyundai, Kia or Proton badge on it (I know they're Malaysian, but the same rule applies).
