fjfr
My car seems really responsive sometimes, and sometimes its just sluggish. It seems to have an intermitant flat spot between 3500 and 4500, and sometimes reving over 5000 doesn't give any extra power, and sometimes it makes it go like a rocket. I've tried it out in loads of differant situations, and sometimes it's great & sometimes its just slow & sluggish. Anyone know what could be causing this? Cheers
CarMad
Sounds like a faulty sensor of some type to me, maybe to do with airflow or fuel. It will be telling the ECU silly things which will make the performance erratic. Someone with VAG.com software might be able to get some diags done for you. doogal1972
Possibly the MAF sensor? I think mine is a bit like that too but I haven't had it checked out yet. Is it really bad, or just slightly noticable? Mine isn't really bad, but you can notice it. Sometimes just seems a little flat, and other times it doesn't. fjfr
Its still a fast car, but its just sometimes you put your foot down, and nothing happens, then boost comes, then stops, then comes again. Its really wierd, most of the time its fine, but sometimes it has a horrible lack of power. I'm gonna take it to the garage next week & get it checked out if its a sensor problem. S3ENVY
That's exactly the problem I've been having with my car. Fast when it wants to be and slow when it doesn't. If I put my foot down hard, sometimes it will come on boost rapidly, cut at about 3500-4000 and then come back, most annoying. Anyway took it down to AmD the other day as the MAF had been changed before under warranty, and was told that it was faulty again and the car was running lean at high revs, (Adam checked it with his computer). Unplugged MAF for the journey home and all was good, took it into the stealers today and they just said my throttle body needed cleaning which has evened it out but it's still not as quick with the MAF unnplugged, (haven't had a real chance to give it some yet though).....Sounds like a faulty MAF to me, loads of people with the same symptoms. fjfr
Just went to the MAF, and knocked it about a bit... and my S3 is back! But during the journey it went back to being rubbish, so i'm gonna call audi tomorrow & get it booked in. Cheers guys!
doogal1972
I bought a MAF sensor yesterday, 78 quid plus vat plus a 20 quid surcharge which is refundable when you take the old one back. I've been told on here it's a 10min job and no need to go to a dealer.
