Best Wax on a Black Car?

I have read that Pinnacle Souveran gives an awesome finish on black cars. Has anyone had any experience of this or can anyone suggest other waxes that are particularly good on black.

For information I currently use NXT Tech wax on non-metallic black clearcoat.

Thanks for any responses.

Yes souveran is a great wax and will make a well prepped car* look stunning. My only reservation about this wax is durability although this affects 'ME' as a high mileage user and if you have a garage queen the souveran could be the perfect wax for you!

*Ultimatly its claying followed by polishing that will give you the best results, yes you will need to use a 'wax' on top but applying a good wax to a poor paint surface won't give great results. You could say a wax will add the final 5-10% of any products that you use. For example if you clay, polish the paint and have a great surface to begin with then any wax including any wax from halfords will look good.

From all the waxes I have tried souveran added the most in looks but I require a sealant for durability.

Souveran is awesome on black but durabilty is a problem lasts a few weeks . Nattys blue is pretty good and a whole lot cheaper . #16 is also good but require a good base and application technique. Wolfgang sealent adds great gloss as does optimum wax .. lots of choices

cheers guys, just been given some Zymol Carbon, so will give that a go first and let you know 169144-ok.gif

I use Carbon - It's fantastic stuff IMO.

Just don't use TOO much!! Use a foam pad and just smear it over the panel. Half a light turn in the pot will be enough for a door. I take a light pass with some cotton stockinette and then finish with a Microfibre.

Lovely 169144-ok.gif

Hey no problem - I think it's a common mistake when people use it for the first time, they use it like a liquid and waste loads while making a right pigs ear of the car at the same time.........

I was lucky when I bought my first Zymol at Goodwood 5 years back the guy gave a good demo' and answered my questions. 169144-ok.gif

Nowt wrong with UDS mate - not used it myself but have heard mixed reports about its ease of use.

TBH, once you've got the prep sorted then I really don't believe that final wax makes a huge difference - having tried a "few" waxes myself, I can't see a massive improvement between P21S, Souveran, Nattys blue etc - then again I've put a few hours into the paintwork of my black car to put mildly!

I've read that spending time on the polishing phase, especially on a black car, can reap dividends. So far, with my car being brand new, I have just been washing with Soft Wash Gel and finishing off with Cleaner Wax. (The stuff I got in a cleaning kit from clean and shiney.)

Bearing in mind the application of the wax, do I need to remove it before polishing? Or can I simply wash the car, polish, then wax?

BTW I've just taken delivery of some NXT products.

Nice lads 169144-ok.gif

OK so I have tried the Zymol. A week ago I did half the bonnet with it and the other half with NXT Tech Wax, after having washed, clayed, HD Cleansed amd polished with Stage 2.

In my opinion, neither stands out in terms of finish, but the NXT is way easier to apply, even with very thin coats of both. The NXT seems to bead easier as well and when I washed today, the sponge seemed to glide better on that half (could be my brain is biased by the gorgeous smell of NXT smile.gif )

I will give it another week or two and report again on the results, but so far I have to say I am very impressed with the NXT, particularly when you look at ease of use and the price difference.
