helfinger
SNOOPER INDAGO HERE AT SPEED DETECTORS UK WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO TRY OUT THE NEW SNOOPER INGAO SAT NAV UNIT. ALL I CAN SAY is that its fantastic.... Snooper really have pull all the stops out with this unit. Its design is the first thing you notice which is superb, in looks alone this units has to be the one to go for. This unit feels such like a quality item which for the asking price it should be. You notice with the snooper there are no cumbersome buttons around the edge like other units on the market this is a full touch screen unit. Everything is incorporated into the unit there is no additional speaker system like the road angel navigator. Due to this the cradle is a lot smaller which i feel gives you more flexibility when coming to install the unit, and looks so much better when installed into your car. When you turn the unit on you are greeted with a very pleasant female voice and a loading screen with the snooper logo. The unit we were supplied did not have any instructions with it but that did not matter within 5 mins you can easily work and plan your route on the Snooper indago. The main things i noticed was how good the anti-glare screen was and how bright the colors were on the unit which shows that snooper have used a quality LCD screen. Even when you touch the screen it feels solid where as other units on the market seem to feel spongy. There are various settings on this unit to personalize it such as male and female voices, volume control which does go loud and the speaker quality very good does not distort or vibrate through the unit. One of the features i love with the Snooper indago is that you can change the colors of the maps there are lots of variations which i think is a superb idea as some colors obviously don't show up very well say on a sunny day which you can over come with this unit. Setting your route: This unit is designed to be idiot proof i'm sure. it very easy to use and with the quirky style keyboard works a treat there is no pressing one letter and getting another with this unit the touch screen is very precise. Once you have set you location then the unit reverts to the main navigation screen. All the information for the journey is featured at the bottom ie ETA, time and Road name. The GPS speed reading is shown in the far left hand corner. The verbal direction are extremely clean and to be honest not annoying at all compared to other units i have tried. The 2d & 3D maps also are very clear and give you very good perspective into what is coming up, there are even little camera icons that you can see in the distance, which i though was a nice touch to the display graphics. Speed camera detection: The speed camera side of this unit is very impressive, very clear verbal warnings giving the speed limit and the camera type. This unit also has a smart feature that works out from you speed how soon it should warning you of camera locations. The added bonus with this unit is that it shows the known locations of mobile camera sites which makes up for not having laser detection. One of the things i was most impressed with was the GPS Antenna. Out of all the units we sell non of them can ever acquire a gps signal in our offices. This unit does, and the speed it locates the satellites is almost instantly. Good Points: Screen Quality / Color selection Speaker Quality GPS Antenna is superb - works inside and locates the satellites almost straight away Bad Points: GPS Speed reading could be a little bigger mmm not a lot else to be honest Please PM me if you would like any more info on this unit. I would be happy to offer a group buy on this unit or TSN discounts if the moderators will allow it. Please PM for further information, or visit the website link below

helfinger
i have really found it hard to say a bad thing about it. Compared to the others on the market they don't come close.......
WhiteHArtMart
Looks great - nice and compact!! Seriously considering getting one of these now. Has anyone got any views on where this unit is better than say a Tom Tom 500 (Trying to justify the extra outlay!!) Thanks!

Crystalballs
Was going to get the Road Angel Navigator but was put off by reviews. Was recommended to wait for the Indago & sounds like that was the right thing to do! Can anyone tell me if the Indago works with a heated windscreen or do you need an external aerial?
smjohns
All GPS devices work fine with the heated windscreens. Apparently the only windscreens that can cause problems with GPS devices is the solar reflective windscreens as seen on better spec's renaults and the like. I really like the look of the Indago but am interested to know why they haven't gone for a powered cradle like the Road Angel? If you hardwire the cradle in on the RA, it just pops in this and away you go. The indago looks like a bit of a fiddly windscreen holder and you then have to attach a 12v-usb power cable. It does not even come with a hard wire straight lead as standard. This would make me think that the unit is usable in the car without power....must be a big battery then? Does anyone know how long the battery will last in this unit? It does not say in the manual and surely it couldn't navigate for a 6hr trip without some extra juice? With the RA, are the problems reported likely to be software (i.e. fixable) or are there some major design flaws too?
petelewis
IMHO these seem to be best option for scameras and navigation. Snooper's superb camera database, Garmin's superb navigation software. The latest SirfStarIII chipset, which anhialates it's predecessors for accuracy and signal maintenance.
skifly
I have an indago - the comments i would make are... Battery: Good esp when i remember to switch the socket on when charging it *doh! Lasts for a good 4 hr trip on the batt without the cable. Its easy to make a hardwire too. Cameras: I found one it had missed the other day. Its now on the DB after a quick email. Mount: Needed a little modification as it wasnt sticking well at first as the sucker handnt been de-flashed very well. Nothing a stanley knife and lighter didnt sort in about 2 mins. Easy to use though and clips in quite nicely. Supourt: I mentioned the riskzone (possible laser vans) warning was a little short when on the motorway and snooper offered to have someone meet me and extend the range a little on the warnings. No cost and all very friendly. Now that is service!!! All in all i am well impressed with the indago all good comments above i haave to agree with and feel a little lost without it at times. If you can stretch then this is the one i would go for (compared to a tom tom that i have used). Cheers Helfinger!
Paddy_Driver
Hi Helfinger, Can you tell me if the Indago will work in Southern Ireland? NAVTEQ have us fully covered and the Enigma database seems to cover Ireland too so wanted to see would the Indago be a good fit? If it is just UK mapping then can you tell me how to get the Irish maps onto it etc? Thanks for your help Paddy
helfinger
so far as i am aware it covers all the UK and N S Ireland fro the maps and the speed camera database. i have sold a few units over there and they have not come back........ simon999
What's the verdict Helfinger then? Is this better than the road angel 7000? Cheers, Simon.
jdcampbell
I have tried all the Road Angel Navigation products, the original Navigator, the 6000 and the 7000. I would avoid them completely I'm afraid. The user interface is about as user friendly as a pit bull with rabies. I actually find it shocking that a company with such a strong brand image is prepared to sell a product with such a poorly designed user interface. On top of that I tried a 7000 in London two weeks ago, not only did it decide to take me on a most bizarre and tortuous route but half way through the journey it kept losing satellite lock and placing me on a road adjacent to the one I was actually driving on. In the end we turned the bloddy thing off and used a map. It actually disappoints me to say these things because the people in Blackspot are great to deal with and have been very supportive of my business when I started it up - however I can't ignore the failings in the product. I tried the Indago and thought it was better than the Road Angel product. Its only major failing was that the screen was unreadable on a bright day or with sunlight. I don't know if they have addressed this with the Syrius. I have partially written a SatNav buying guide which you can see at http://www.autobestbuy.co.uk/satnav-buying-guide.asp . Shortly I'll be writing a review of the Tomtom One, Talex 6000T, iPAq with ViaMichelin, Sony Nav-u50 and how they measure up to the criteria in the buying guide. I quite like the Talex unit, it did quite well in the recent AutoEXPRESS reviews (which inexplicably placed the RA 7000 as a BEST BUY) achieving 3rd place and a RECOMMENDED accolade. You can see a sequence of navigation screenshots (which I will be commenting when I have some time) at http://www.autobestbuy.co.uk/images/screenshots.jpg . simon999
Thanks guys for your help. Going to get the Indago. Snooperdirect.com will do the unit + lifetime updates for £360 (without the snooper s1 laser unit, which I don't want), so that's what I've gone for. Have also gone for the following brodit mounting solution from dsldevelopments.com after a chat with David who was very helpful: ProClip Center mount 653296 Large move clip 213006 & tilt/swivel ball joint 213018 Will post some pics of the install for anyone's that interested hopefully at the weekend. Cheers, Simon.
helfinger
i can tell you now you will not get Free lifetime subs as no retailer/distrubuter can author-se that on a unit. They have a offer if you trade in your old unit snooper will then give you lifetime subs but thats the only way it will happen. if you call me on 0115 9596485 i can beat that price for the indago unit. Busby
The Pogo Alert looks like a great bit of kit. Is the laser detection part of the standard package or is it an extra that you have to purchase? Do you know the dimensions of the unit and the cost of updates too? Cheers

Cheers [/ QUOTE ] The laser is std with the unit. it is descreatly hidden in the units cradle. you also get 2 fitting options either a winsdcreen mount or a dash mount which incorportae the laser unit which is a plugin unit so if the law changes as regards to laser then the unit will still remain 100% legal also the beauty with the new origin Pogo Alert is it comes with 6 months free subs. so unlike the road angel products and snooper units you don't have to spend even more cash on the camera updates. After the 6 months has finished its just £50 per year. As for sizes: The Pogo Alert : W- 60mm - H - 40 mm D- 50mm
