Regulator
Ok, walking 2 uni this morning and I spot a very odd thing ... A VW Polo dark green colour had the front VW badge missing and so, I thought either somebody is trying to debadge the car and avoid buying a new grille or it has been stolen overnight. Then as I continued to walk to uni, I saw another VW Polo, silver colour with the front veedub badge missing again ... Whats going on? are the badges being stolen or are people just not buying the front grilles and leaving the cars debadged, on the standard grille? M8CKN
More than likely an aftermarket grill from someone like www.awesome-gti.co.uk as if you had the badge stolen, there would be a circular piece of plastic in the middle of the grill where the badge used to sit rather than straight slats all the way accross. Popular and cheap modification....se attached

What I saw this morning was a VW Grille which had the circular piece of plastic where the badge used 2 b, but the odd thing was, there was no badge!!!!! even more confusing was I saw 2 cars which were like this! Snoopy
[ QUOTE ] Apologies, probably a Beastie Boys gig nearby last night then [/ QUOTE ] Oh i remember that the first time round got my badge nicked then. The trend for VW owners then was either remove the grill badge or was to glue razor baldes to the back of the badge and as they went rusty no one could see them there until the tea leaf stuck there fingers through the badge and gripped it to pull it off and got a nasty shock. Not that i condone such things

mmj
I think it's a phenomenon born due to Ebay... Had mine stolen whilst at a breakers... Easily stolen, easily sold and easy to send in the post. Was going to get a replacement off of Ebay, till I noticed how many there were, to which I decided I would only be fueling demand Knowing my luck, I'd end up buying my own one back! Citychick612
I'd say the badges were stolen. More accurately, it's a trend to steal it. Oh, great website and business for customizating your VW at www.boostfactoryonline.com I highly recommend it!
