Plasma or LCD?

Plasma display mate, the Fuji is very good, but only the 50" model (40 series), the 42" uses Hitachi ALiS screen which is not up to much, where as the 50" uses Panasonic 7th generation glass with their own processing.

However the Fuji is around £4.5k maybe £4k with some discount and for that money you can buy a Panasonic 8 series and an external video processor, this will do a far better job than using the internal one and acts as a video switcher making the unit easier to use then a regualr TV.

The Panasonic is leaps and bounds ahead of anything else, and the Fuji is arguably better, personally I still prefer the Panny as it looks more like an analogue picture than a digital one.

Panny PHD8 42" for around £1950 delivered with stand or wall bracket, component input, S-Video and Composite and another £85 for an HDMI input card.

Panny PHD8 50" for around £3000 delivered with stand or wall bracket, component input, S-Video and Composite and another £85 for an HDMI input card.

If you need to add speakers to it they are around £200, but you are best to buy an all-in-one system with an amp and speakers for the same money if you don't already have something.

So, mutiply all the £ by about 2 to get $. (Oz gets Japanese electronics at MUCH cheaper prices than anywhere else on the planet, as we are the gaijin test-bed for them).

Not bad.

I was also looking at a Pioneer PDP-435HDG ($5999) or their PDP-505HDG. The image processing and quality is pretty impressive compared to most.
