Top Gear Stig - a clue to his identity

This is what I have been told:

The Stig is not just one person. When they ran the Renault F1 car it was Heikki Kovalainen at the wheel. The majority of the time it is Ben Collins behind the wheel, however when Ben is doing his day job (Driving in the British GT Championship) they get another driver in. This could be Julian Bailey, who used to stand in for Perry Mcarthy on occasion.

I was under the impression it was Perry McCarthy. (??????)

Has anyone read his book 'Flat Out Flat Broke - Formula 1 the Hard Way !"

Absolutely hilarious but at the same time you can't help but feel sorry for the guy.One episode in particular which he recounts in the book sticks in my mind and that is when he was due to race at the Circuit de Catalunya...but overslept and had literally had about 30 mins to get from his hotel in Barcelona to the racetrack.

A really good read.
