loafer27
just wondering if those of you who spend a lot of time and or money washing and polishing your cars are happy to see it given a free "valet" when it goes in for servicing ? i think it will make the £200 pound oil change even less bearable to think it comes with a free all over swirl marks addition . Brazo
A cautionary tale about why to avoid dealers washing your car at all costs!
Snail
I spend a sunday washing and washing my audi, sent it in the dealer, who washed it the next day, and it came out dirtier than it went in, when they had "washed it". I work next to a BMW garage, and watching the muppets cleaning the cars, id NEVER let them wash my car!
Domus
I tell the service guy not to clean it, but as they forget to inform the wash monkey, I print off an A4 sheet, DO NOT WASH and leave on the dash.

[/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This thread will hopefully demonstrate remarkably poor dealer car preparation and shows that they really don’t give a damn when it comes to preparing customers cars and should also show why if badly valeted by the dealer your car will need ‘heavy’ machine polishing prior to application of an LSP! [/ QUOTE ] I've said it on here before........ NO! NO! NO! NEVER! NO! NO! Nuff said BUB

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I think I'll do that too. When I picked it up I told them NOT to wax/polish it and just to give it a 'quick' wash as I was going to get it Supagared by 'my boys'. Yeah right! I wouldn't let the, 'cleaners' at my place touch my car with a feather duster............ BUB
cdb2
Never, specifically say not to. Have seen guys at one dealership washing cars with a broom and a bucket.
Brazo
^^Nope but they use sponges and chamiois leathers, They will start off by steam cleaning and removing your wax before they get the gravelly sponge out. I have repaired and seen far too much delaer inflicted damage to know that they employ monkeys to wash the cars. I'm not saying their aren't any good dealer valeters, I'm just yet to find one! The manager of my local dealership got quite agitated when I said I didn't want my car washed, he asked why and I said have you seen the state of the cars in your showrrrom? He looked at me as if I was talking rubbish, I then showed him all the spiderwebbing nicely illumintaed in the lighting and again he looked at me stupid and said thats normal! Thats what your up against!

But they all go quiet when I wheel the car off the wash bay and out of the workshop on a Sat morn after a quick 2-3 hr wash and touch up. Sponge
Does anyone have any knowledge of Chester Audi and their car washing skills? I hope I don't have to take my car to them for a while yet, but it would be nice to know.
Paul
Absolutely not. The below may have raised a chuckle with my dealer, but they get the message.
NeilB
Anyone who owns an Audi must be mad to let the dealer wash it. Lots of hard to remove swirls, because of the clear coat... mmmm nice.
Sponge
It's ironic, one of the things I didn't like about the Fiat dealer was that they never seemed to go that little step further regards customer service. I envied those people with better dealerships that valetted cars before giving them back. But now I have the Audi and have been educated by you lot , I'm glad it never happened. And it probably never will now.
Hudson
Just come into the Audi ''fold '' with my A6 2.8 Quattro, i must remember never ever never ever to let the dealers ''valet'' my baby. Good god i wont even let the wifey open the door unless she remembers to keep her various wedding, birthday rings away from the paint. I could not trust some min wage YTS monkey with a gritty wash mit and 2 day old water with my pride and joy. I will make sure i print off the stop sign above and use it all the time, cheers for the idea.

Car always looks spotless to me after they wash it, but I'm no expert They didn't vaccuum it though, the lazy gets! To be fair, chester after-sales service though, is the best i've experienced from an audi dealer! Their head customer service woman is so chirpy it rubs off on ya!
