colly
Hi everyone, I'm new around here and keep snooping around the posts on the A3 forum - intresting stuff.. My question is about the Jabbasport remap - My car is in at the end of the month and I've gone for the custom remap - mapped to achive the highest output running high octane fuel. My car runs standard at 150bhp as you may well know but has anybody here had the Jabba remap? IMO they are a trust worthy company and would like to know experiences you have had with them and how much horsepower gain I can expect. As I'm new my a few details on my car: '99 A3 1.8 Turbo Sports, Black, standard apart from one mod I love - the Carbonio carbon induction kit (filter in the bumper, awesome dump valve sound!!) Tomk
that must be quite noisey ? anyway ive got an AMD remap on my t sport and the forge dv i got a remap of around 195bhp and was the best £500 ive spent on the car !
shark_90
There is a chap on here by the name of Nemosomethingorother (can't remember his exact username!) who has an Jabba'd A4 1.8T, and he's had serious troubles with his car after (I think) losing power to the ECU. Don't know how he's getting on with it now.
colly
>>that must be quite noisey ? It is when at high revs in a good way though - I wouldn't ruin the Audi puttin a shite induction kit on, you must not have heard one before to think its noisey. Bit worried with your words shark but I suppose one must slip through the net and not map very good. I'm expecting a good BHP figure (around the 200mark) running high-octane and this is a custom chip so the car be rolling roaded through-out the remap to ensure stability of the chip etc.. Does up-grading the DV make a difference after the remap? I wouldn't want to loose the sound my standard one makes (the carbonio makes it go mental). I was expecting quite a few replys with info about different remaps \ experiences etc..
Wallachie
[ QUOTE ] I was expecting quite a few replys with info about different remaps \ experiences etc.. [/ QUOTE ] Use the search facility at the top of the page, remaps have been covered on TSN many many times. You will find that most people use AMD, Revo, MTM or Superchips for Audi/VW remaps. Personally, I had never heard of Jabba, and I wouldn't consider them to be honest.
Mollox
Jabba are fairly well known. I think, in part, they position themselves a little more (how can I put this?) 'mass market' whereas the likes of AMD/REVO/QST like to be thought of as very scientific. I'd also say that Jabba have taken a key slice of the market that lies beyond basis Stage 1 ("ooh, don't hurt my car") mentality (I have a Stage 1 hehe) and they get involved in a lot of plumbing, roller bearing turbo conversions etc. I don't know if they do their own bespoke mapping, but I think they do. I had a run in a Jabba'd (230+ bhp) Skoda Octavia vRS around Bruntingthorpe and that was genuinely funny. Having watched it catch, pass and then pull away from an EVO IV around the track I had to have a go. Have to say it was most amusing bearing down on an E30 M3 Evo and watching the BM reluctantly pull over to let the Skoda through. Very surprising and the owner had a lot of good to say about Jabba. Like I say, a bit different, a bit more of a mechanical focus than most tuners and a decent reputation for being handy and delivering the goods. But my god did they need a new website last time I looked! And I do believe they were about to launch a new site too
shark_90
Just remember Colly - it's not all about BHP, it's about the way it drives. Oettinger by RSD are arguably the best ones, but I've heard very good things about the guys at AmD also. Look around and try and get a drive in their test cars before you part with your wedge. There is a massive difference between each remap.
colly
Yes I have a had a good look around - my brother runs Revo on his Golf 1.8T - Nice smooth drive but generic map. He has also run AMD on another which got around 220bhp on a 2000 model golf turbo (rapid!). Jabba have been around a while - there website is been re-developed (Mollox the old one was shameful!). And as they explained on the phone the car will be rolling roaded before \ during \ and after the map tweaking as they go to ensure the power comes in correctly and smoothly. My impression is that this is the best way to go - I dont want a pre-programmed plug in job (superchips, revo etc.) They also will take the force fed induction into account so hopefully squeeze a little more out of her. Thanks for your views; keep them coming...
Mollox
Don't go dismissing 'generic' remaps though, I have a REVO remap with the SPS3 dongle for adjusting boost/timing and stock/performance etc and I have absolutely no complaints. Its great!!
doogal1972
Speaking of maps, has anyone heard of a switchable map for an S3? Why I ask is a mate of brothers has an old shape S4 with one. He said he had a burn from lights to lights with a 911 and the 911 won. He switched the map at the second set of lights and dusted the 911! The guy must have thought WTF! Now doesn't that sound fun? Just wondered if any of you guys had heard of or experienced that before?
Mollox
Yes, my REVO remap is switchable. It takes about 10 seconds to change any of the following: - Standard or remapped modes - 1 of 18 Boost settings - 1 of 18 Timing settings - Immobilise ECU
doogal1972
And what's the consensus between a standard map like the AMD and a switchable revo map? My brothers mate made it sound like as long as the car was in neutral and the revs were on tick over you can change it. So in theory you could remap while on the move if you take it out of gear let the revs idle? Is that right?
shark_90
No, it requires you to turn the ignition off as far as I know! I wouldn't recommend doing that on the move
colly
Thanks for all the comments - I will defo post up the graphs after the 4 hour session! Great site and I will be sticking around...
