RedRobin
I reckon the GTI is better value than the R32 but obviously the R32 has 4WD grunt and V6 music. ST is obviously a good car and extremely good value performance-wise but....not to my particular taste. Good idea to wait until Spring, or at least until after the Winter. Mind you, my GTI is really cosy in all weathers so far.
simkna
I certainly will miss the 4WD and masses of torque I have now, but couldn't live with the MPG from the R32. If the GTi is driven carefully it should approach the averages I get with the A4. Si.

OzGTI
Jay, I reckon this happens from time to time when you are neither on or off the throttle. I think it can be confused when you are 'not driving with intent' especially when in D. Not sure whether it is a second or more. Are these the circumstances you are referring to? [/ QUOTE ] ....Somehow, having met you, I can't see you driving the GTI carefully! She's very eager and always up for it! I think I drive carefully and only get 28 mpg. simkna
I guess that means I'll have to go for another diesel then. (Joking). I have only averaged 35mpg out of the A4, so the GTi shouldn't be that much different. Si.
RedRobin
....In theory perhaps. I don't want to put you off but I don't see how anyone with a GTI on TSN manages continual mpg figures in the 30s and even a 40-something posted. Perhaps I use Sports mode too much but my overall for nearly 5,000 miles is only 28.7 and I do all kinds of journeys - cross country to Chippenham today . mixit
Robin .. Sorry if the "Pimples" thread got a bit out of hand last night . I was a bit worried that you stopped posting in it and thought you may have got the Pim... Sorry... Hump. I'm sure you know we're only teasing. RedRobin
No problem Mixit! I had to go out and play a gig in Poole - That's the only reason I disappeared for most of the evening. I'm used to being teased....English Public School and also working on the factory floor has given me plenty of experience!! They're both like prison and blokes have to have a laugh doing Porridge....That was such a great TV series....Hats off to Ronnie Barker. I think it always happens when blokes get together....I don't think gals do it unless it gets really catty and nasty (but great to witness!!). There are always limits though but I've noticed that we seem to police ourselves in this forum. I appreciate your consideration and post though

RedRobin
....A-Glazed and def worth it. Meg's Lambswool Mitt plus Magnet Cloth and eeeesy and slippy I think that most of the special finishes will be as good as each other. I only spent 2 hours cleaning a very very filthy car and didn't polish her even.

RedRobin
Meguiar's do a genuine Lambs Wool Wash Mitt for £9.99 and also a Magnet Drying Cloth (£12?). They are both machine washable and therefore long lasting. If you check out the TSN Cleaning forum you'll notice that plenty of TSNers highly recommend Meguiar's products. Andy has posted an excellent cleaning guide there.
