NewNiceMrMe
Odd you should say that....I saw one of those yesterday and didn't even realise the 1.9TDi was still produced. I just presumed the 2.0 TDi had superceded it. I was puzzled, to say the least.
UBM
IIRC the B7 1.9TDI is the 115PS version? I know someone with an avant S-Line version - they were the early ones which came out at the B7 launch. It's the same people who had the window smashed by the local fire brigade.... Again, IIRC the 1.9TDI is no longer available?
shark_90
There is still a 1.9TDi - you're right in saying it's the 115PS version and it's available in both the A3 and A4. I also saw a B7 1.8T last week, where again you'd presume the 2.0T had superseded that.

I thought when I bought mine in Oct 2005 it was the replacement for the 1.

A2ULP
The 1.9TDI is still available for new A3's and A4's. It is clear it gives away 25bhp to the 2.0TDI so as such it is an entry model to the range to compete with the BMW 118d and 318d - Audi aren't going to ignore an entry level market that still certainly exists especially for company car drivers. As for why would anyone buy it, well, for the same reason that not everyone driving an A4 has the 3.2V6 or even the RS4 - cost of course. The 1.9TDI has done craking service in VAG products so there is no reason to get rid of it yet. However, I have heard that Audi are going to introduce a 120bhp version of the 2.0TDI (which can be recognised because of no red digits in the badge) once they have been able to ramp-up capacity for the 2.0TDI engine - for obvious reasons they went with a 170bhp version as a priority for the very reason the 1.9TDI can still do service as a 'rear guard' until the less powerful 2.0TDI arrives. I was under the impression this was about now-ish but perhaps it will be close to the end of the year
UBM
Strange, the B7 2.0TDI 140 does not have a red I, neither does the 170PS?

[/ QUOTE ] Is there anything to seperate them visually, other than even more soot coming out of the back end of the 170bhp version! I could have sworn the 140bhp version had a red 'I'
UBM
Nope - nothing to tell them apart...
